Star Wars: The High Republic

I prefer regular issues versus store exclusives. The market seems to too.

Here’s the real question: do IDW Star Wars comics exist without spine ticks, color breaking or not? I can’t see many 9.8’s on this Annual. I have four and I doubt any could hit 9.8. Probably most are 9.4 with one or two non-color breaking spine dings.

The IDW’s are notorious for the ticks. If there is just 1 or 2, and they’re non-color breaking, you still have a chance at a CGC 9.8.

That’s what I’ve never been comfortable with. I’ve sent in over 400 books to CGC over the past few years, and I am just never sure how to judge if a non-color breaking tick on a tissue paper MARVEL cover will knock it to a 9.6. All my older books I don’t care because old keys can be below 9.8 and still be very valuable. But anything less than a 9.8 on most modern (last 5 years or so) books is basically a loss with grading fees unless the book is truly a solid key. I guess I could throw them in a batch and do pre-screen…

Exactly. Pre-screen them.

I have 6 of each the Mayhew and the second print. I don’t really care either way. I’m just legitimately curious.

Doesn’t comichron just guess print runs? I mean they used to go off of Diamond sales but that isn’t released anymore. Or do I have bad info?

Went to my LCS, picked up all the
SW HR Adventures #8
and the last SW HR Adv. Annual

No SW HR Adventures #2s,

A High Republic #7 was priced at $15.

F-That!

It depends on when you’re talking. Pre-Covid I think it was more precise.

Post-Covid it depends on what month exactly. Some months Diamond reported. Other months, he estimated them.

Since October of 2021 it has gotten murkier for Marvel books since Penguin doesn’t release any numbers.

I order them by the hundreds, and I usually end up with quite a few great looking books. Not sure if maybe the shops you hit up only order a handful at a time, or if they are in the kids section and kids are reading / handling them.

Not a fan of store exclusives; not against them also. Thanks for the numbers. Trying to make a decision on whether to pick up some more first prints; doesnt seem too rare. The second print numbers are an eye-opener. I think faele talked about the second print earlier also.

I have mostly NM/NM+ copies so maybe it was just the place you bought them from.

Of course they do. U just got shitty copies sadly.

I haven’t noticed any with them or with an abundance of them. I’ve subbed a bunch of 9.8s, so it sounds like some bad luck on your end as others have pointed out.

I’ve been looking for a decent set or Trade Dress copy of the Mayhew exc. All the ones on eBay either have front cover color rubs, back cover rubs, spine tics etc. All of the Shadow Var’s I’ve seen have been the same… cheapest found was I think M Beaver $32 for the Trade. I really don’t like to order from those guys…

Crimson reign second print damages not looking good so far… 1x 1:25 variant and quite a few regular covers.

Don’t worry @drunkwooky i got your package set aside already
