Star Wars: The High Republic

If you want cheap now, you can’t beat HRA #1 and #2. Can still find for cover (off eBay) and have plenty of firsts.

The no brainers to me are

  • HR #1 - 1st and 2nd print - I personally want both Keeve and Avar on the cover.
  • HRA #2 - 1:10 First Ro full appearance and Buckets of Blood cover
  • HR #3 Mayhew - It’s the first cover or Marchion Ro and limited print to 3k, 1k, 1k, for the diff variations. Hasnt gotten the love I expected out the gate but Ro is a cool character, its a cool cover, and the run is limited. You can get CGC 9.8s for like $70-$80 right now.
  • HR 7 2nd print. HR 7 Mayhew Krall cover. No surprise here.
  • HR Annual Cover B - Porter Engle cover. These prices jumped so fast that I’m wondering if the window is shutting here. Still found this at $8 at my LCS though.

Some variants may get higher than what I have listed but I feel confident that price wont be coming down on these personally.

If I had to sink my money into one issue it would be HR 7. But the price on that has already risen significantly so I would scour your local shops for them at cost. I got 2 of each of the first and 2nd prints a few days ago for list cost. So I’m going to go with HRA 2 1:10.

Here are few sneakier picks

FCBD High Republic Adventures - 1st appearance of Ram Jamoram. I don’t think that this will ever be high dollar but they are dirt cheap and that kid is tailor-made for live action. A chubby goofball padawan that everyone loves and they’ve spent a lot of time developing his interests compared to other characters.

Monster of temple peak #1 - First Ty Yorrick - No variant and Comichron is showing 33k issues sold. There are tons of hints about monsters being included in the new HR live action show and one would think that Ty Yorrick, a monster hunter, would be a good fit to be in it.

HR 8 1:25 - First full Reath Silas. It’s like $25 dollars on ebay rn and Reath is one of the main padawan characters in the books. And they are making it a huge point to show how big of a badass he is. And all he really wants to do is read books. Great candidate for live action.

Just some thoughts.

HR books have been out for a year now…

Why haven’t you been buying ?

Also I know there has been some people speculating on HRA #8 the last few weeks. If you think that Sav Malagan is going to be a big deal (I personally like that she is best friends with Maz) you can still get them on the IDW site for $3.99.

Don’t buy them from IDW, buy them from someone who ships nicely

I purchased a few when they first came out (issues 1 to 2 of HR and HRA). Then took a long break from modern comics - and comics in general - for my trading card hobby. I was buying way too much dead spec from TFAW. Needed to step away.

But I noticed the prices are good and want to buy more. Hence the inquiry. Basically, if looking to buy TODAY where is the good spec.

Thank you all for your comments! Time to do some shopping!

Check out the stores on Comichub. If anything is out of stock from Villain Gaming or Dark Dominion, stores here might have some cover priced books.

My advice on that is temper expectations.

50% of them do not shop unless you meet some criterion…like $20 min order or only expedited shipping is offered. Some will limit you to only one copy per book, making it hard to qualify or make it worth the shipping cost.

50% of the ones that do ship single books don’t have accurate inventory. Some will immediately contact yoU and refund your order. Some will refund it no explanation. Some you will have to email and even call their store to find out what’s going on and likely request a refund…it may take multiple calls before they do it.

Nearly all of the stores are brick and mortar. So in the unlikely event you do find a hot book for cover that they’ll ship at a reasonable cost, there’s a high likelihood it’ll show up in less than NM condition…which was why it likely was still in stock at their shop.

Not saying to not look there. But expect a high cancellation rates and NM- or less books.

I use comichub as a last resort. If I must have a book, I order from 2 or 3 shops and in might get 1 or 2 to ship them to me. One may be in collectible grade. On rare occasions I get all three!

I will also say the less time a book has been out, the higher likelihood of success. But that should be common sense.

I don’t use comic hub because their search features suck I don’t have time to scroll through a whole stores inventory in a jumbled mess.

I second this. Most store inventories are not up to date and I’ve found that more often than not, they don’t ship to begin with. Waste of time.

yea everything get cancelled

I went to all the LCS and pulled the the SW HR Adv. Annuals back on Sunday  Glad I did.

I don’t even know how to post. Was away from the forum and comics for too long. Anyway, I am an awful hoarder and tend to over buy. So much so, that I don’t even remember buying this.
