I dunno about cover A but every shop I emailed is sold out of the Hans variant. I wish I asked for more than 5 copies between 4 shops
It was after FOC so Iāll be happy if I even get those 5 copies tbh.

I am not worried about this being a bad spec play. If people paid attention all summer to what Marvel was saying then the print run would have been 500,000+. The game plan for High Republic has been out there for a while.
And comichron could be doing the same thing to come to his own result yet it could very well be all flawed. The only real way to know the actual print run is if the publishers release such information. All we get from boxes and if Diamond releases sales numbers is just that, the number sold.
Print run numbers are like tootsie roll lollipops, weāll never know how many true licks it takes to get to the tootsie roll centerā¦
I remember those commercials. The answer is always 3. 3 licks.
Anyone focusing on the print run only is making the mistake of focusing on supply only. Thatās a big mistake, in this era of Mando and Star Wars mania. Hell, how many copies of UF4 are out there, with the overship? Not enough to meet demand.
Pfftttā¦ Iāve sucked on one for a good half hour beforeā¦ pretty sure there was more than 3 licksā¦ (and saying that outloud without mentioning Tootsie Roll Lollipop sounds really dirty)ā¦ Donāt show this comment to Blind Adam, heāll get all excitedā¦
The undercutting process will burn out quickly, as people who missed out at their LCSās will sweep these copies up.
Yupā¦ supply and availability mean nothing unless demand is there. And right now, Star Wars is hot. There will always be Star Wars fans. There are Star Wars fans who donāt keep up with the latest comics that will seek these out. There will be fans who tuck these away for years until their death before they become available again.
Supply doesnāt create demand, hot book creates demand. Supply only plays itās role when demand kicks inā¦ then we consider availabilityā¦ so many aspects. Never focus on the actual number cause until Marvel tells us the number, itās all hearsay.
Buy low, sell highā¦ if you missed out, too bad. Wait for the next hot book.
The fun part will come as we get closer to The Acolyte airing, and the market starts to guess which, if any, of the HR comic characters will appear. That spec process has fuelled DV 3 for the last year.
Anyone that keeps stating WEāVE been talking about this book for months/weeks always remember WEāRE in a bubble. Most shop owners and consumers dont speculate and there is still a vast majority of comic buyers that walk in shops and browse actual books on the shelf. So whatever the print run isā¦ WEāRE ahead of the curve especially before FOC. After FOC shelf copies are eatin up but as stated I dont THINK(could be wrong) this book was on the radar like that until after FOC.
Soule has been talking about āProject Luminousā since before The Rise of Skywalkerās release.
Curious, but where do you find data on how many cases shipped?
By the way, Iāve read issue #1. Itās good. Itās fun. The artās good. The new characters, ships, worlds, storylines and antagonists are good. This is going to be good.
Review to come later tonight after @agentpoyo and @Anthony publish spoilers.
This is very true as well. This is why print runs donāt matter most of the time. Demand matters. This is sort of like Legends and Robin King all over again. The people paying attention (speculators, hardcore collectors) are on their game, ordering multiple copies, some hoping to flip, some hoping for long term potential, some just to collect and others to readā¦
Millions of Star Wars fans out there. Some will want a piece of the action after they learn of the existence but how many speculators loaded up on these? The market will be swamped, I expect the rise and then fall in prices (we are seeing the rise now with Hans and other covers due to those with a case of FOMO), once these hit secondary market, a lot of those who loaded up will want to offload their copies, start to undercut to get rid of them fasterā¦ prices will come down. As time passes, more Star Wars fans seek these out for collections, prices will start to rise as supply and availability start to go down while demand either stays the same or goes upā¦
@agentpoyo correct I couldnāt agree more!! Unknowncomics just sent an alert that said āback in stockā because as they do with all books when FOC passes and they remove all books from their site but they have jumped on the price up game as well
now my point here is the circles issue 2 and 3. ANYBODY interested in this series shouldnāt even cry or batt an eye at paying OVER cover for the remaining issues on this series. If so you have dropped the ball tremendously. From LCS owners I know. The number of cases is provided on the Diamond shipping labels. I wonāt post what I had sent to me in the morning, but I have the 198 on cover A cases verified by different stores in different cities. Unfortunately, the Anandito B cover and Hans E cover were not shipped to them in cases, despite the fact that each of the stores had the numbers (180+) for it.
And on the bad news front, I was just texted to be prepared to wait for a high amount of damage replacements on my pre-order. This was my biggest worry going in - flimsy cover stock and their new printer means plenty of spine ticks and scrapes on the spine edge.
Agree 100%, which is why I ordered what I did. I ordered expecting a 200-250k print run, as I stated before.
I just want to see how people validate their numbers when they post things. I am going by numbers I get from stores re: shipping labels. Anyone else can do the same thing.
Relieved to see my 25+ copy pre-order for High Republic cover A was marked āfilledā by DCBS. All this talk of allocation had got me nervous!. Only got 3 each of the other covers so may still hunt around for a few more Hans variants on Wednesday.
Right! Just checked and mine are filled too; yay!
Which again, is not what we should focus on IMHO. I really want to change the focus on the speculation industryā¦ maybe Iām delusional but seems all too often people (speculators) focus on the wrong things. Itās all about, is it rare, ooohā¦ itās rare or has low print run, I should buy it nowā¦
I personally donāt buy stuff cause someone or something claims itās ārareā, āHTFā or ālimitedāā¦ I buy because A) I like and B) I want and sometimes C) Has value potential (short or long term).
If it turns out being something that āeveryoneā else wants, even better if I was able to snag my copy at cover price. If I missed out, well, thatās what trades are for or MU to read and there will always be another āhot bookā to sellā¦
