Star Wars: The High Republic

@Mike_C and @thefallenone ,

Please, do not get personal. Attack/debate the idea, not the person please. First and final warning.

The books that do the best, as far as value, are ones that aren’t spoiled before foc. Less supply, and the demand didn’t start until after the cut off. Plain and simple. Retailers want as much demand as possible beforehand to presell massive copies. Then the demand fades enough to see a drop in value. Glad to help.

Magical flying unicorns that fart rainbows in the sky might show up tomorrow
prove me wrong? <- That’s basically what you’re saying when you say, “This book would probably be selling for $50 if you didn’t talk about it prior to FOC”
Jared, your logic is flawed and that’s not logic, that’s just you blowing hot air.

Also, I’m not getting personal. I’m attacking your illogical ideas of “what if” statements

Imagine how high HR 1 would be if Previews didn’t show it before FOC?

Imagine how much HR would be if George Lucas didn’t make a hit movie called Star Wars back in 1977? :stuck_out_tongue:

Again i disagree. Look at something is killing children. It was talked up insanely before foc yet today its a $200 book. Ur hypothesis is flawed.

Imagine how high it would be if Marvel printed 100k copies and destroyed all but 600 of them!!!1!

Wow. That’s a big pre-order. Well done.

Imagine how high HR 1 would be if Marvel didn’t announce it pre-FOC.

Bullshit
 Legends of the Darkest Knight
no FOC talk, book is cover price once again. Who bought up all the copies? Speculators. Who flooded the market? Speculators. Less supply doesn’t make something more desirable. Demand in general causes value to go up as supplies and availability go down or limited to start off with.

Seriously, you’re logic is flawed. Time after time we prove you wrong with actual real world examples.

If something has organic demand, the value will go up no matter print run size. I swear, I feel like a broken record repeating himself over and over
Print runs don’t cause value, demand does. Supply and Availability only assist in the final value of what people are willing to spend.

‘It could be’ is a terrible argument, and has no logic involved whatsoever.

Where are your hard numbers? How many extra copies were ordered, of any given book, because it was mentioned on the internet pre foc? What percentage would that be of the final print run? Now take the going prices and do the math on those two numbers. That would actually give us a range of any potential gains in price. You need to provide a lot more data to back up your moot point. If those extra copies weren’t printed because of ‘pre foc talk’, can you provide proof that the book would be as ‘hot’ as it is? Wouldn’t less initial readers be detrimental for the book, from less exposure to the market? You need a lot of numbers, that you can’t provide, in order for your dragged out point to hold any water.

I bet HR2 will be a killer book for value. Low print prob since early FOC

I bet a lot of people think the female jedi on the cover of HR #1 is the same one on HR Adventures #1.

I don’t even know what this means. “Spoiled” before FOC. Are you saying publishers should only solicit books (I.e. previews) after FOC???

If you want an industry to grow and flourish you don’t hold it back
you put it out there. And people talking about holding information back just for their own profiteering is selfish, short sighted and likely to backfire. Trying to manipulate the market will turn more money away than bring money to it.

Talking about books prior to FOC is good for comics. Plain and simple.
