Hopefully they’ll be few and far between. I got 8 copies across all covers and only 1 had this defect.
I went through mine to check. This is across the stores I ordered from. Doesn’t seem like a significant amount happened more from one or another; every order had at least a couple.
Hans cover - 5/30 I ordered had some type of tear
Anindito cover - 3/20 I ordered had a tear
Cover A - 2/25 I ordered had a tear
1:10 - 0/3 I ordered had a tear
1:25 - 0/4 I ordered had a tear
My CBE High republic #1 will be delivered today, expect pictures later today when it is! Am I really the only one here who gave them a shot? (Or just the only one willing to admit to it…) I figured it was a PayPal transaction so worst case just request a refund if nothing ever came of it. There’s 1 auction up on eBay right now, sitting at $305 for the virgin, so it’s looking like it will do pretty well, especially the fact even just the A covers are $25+ . Time will tell.
Honestly I would have bought in if it was attached to anyone but CBSI. That was literally the only reason I didn’t.
I just couldn’t get pass the steep price for these books at $75 and $125. Given most store exclusives and virgins are priced at $15/30. hard pass for me.
It was only $80 with free shipping/no tax, for the trade and virgin. So basically $35 each (minus shipping charges), didn’t seem too crazy to me after I thought about it like that. Though yeah it is definitely higher than most exclusives.
I passed cause well… telling me lies that 1800 of them will be destroyed to make it exclusive is just lies… LIES… they could easily have sold them all, dropped the price a bit and yeah… not have to DESTROY books…
Another issue I have seen a lot on these and other comics recently is box cutter marks. Nothing annoys me more then knowing some Diamond employee is slicing through comics with a box cutter.
Sad Lemons Kuder exclusive is also “limited to 600” with no mention at all on their page of how it is able to only be limited to 600. So CBE is not the only one playing that game, and I admit I also have my extreme reservations about them being affiliated with cbsi and the limited to 600 thing, but if they actually post the destruction process and everything they say they are going to do then ill feel much better about it all. Also I just like the cover itself, so doesn’t really matter to me if it is limited to 600, 3k, or 100k. I think it works even more now with the clone wars homage of Anakin and Ahsoka, with the previews for #4 hinting that Ssskeer ‘turns bad’ - interesting parallels.
I dont like books being destroyed. I wont support that just to make a few bucks. I wont hold it against people would do buy it, just my personal choice.
Exactly.
Yeah, this book was hot enough they could have just sold 3k of them and still probably got everyone to buy in at $50 a piece…
But yeah, I want to watch the video where they show us destroying each and every copy, one by one and the invoice showing they only bought the minimum amount to do the exclusive… then we can say it’s truly exclusive being there’s only 600 of each of the covers, for 1200 total. Until they do that, I’m going to assume there’s 3k or more out there…
The destruction video should be required to have a guy in a fireman outfit with a Captain Beatty nameplate and holding a canister of kerosene.
Beep boos beep boop, I’m the cultural reference bot, here to assist with footnotes on cultural references!
This comment references: Fahrenheit 451. Captain Beatty is the main antagonist of the bestselling Ray Bradbury novel Fahrenheit 451 and the 1966 film and 2018 remake of the same name.
Are there… people who haven’t read Fahrenheit 451? Parenthetically, it’s one my absolute favorite books.
Side note: This novel is absolutely fantastic and hits maybe too close to home in 2021. Audible has a version with Tim Robbins narrating, and well, it’s great.
It’s a very ironic move to “read” Fahrenheit 451 on a digital audiobook. Not knocking it. Just pointing it out.
High school English requirement to read it over here.
Thought the same thing as I was listening. “Oh no. I’m part of the problem.”
any way you could tell us how big of a difference tfaw had in order numbers for high republic #1 compared to high republic adventure #1. maybe a ballpark of %
