McNiven is awesome. I believe I told this story before, but oh well.
His family lives in a small town about 10 minutes away. One year, he randomly contacted a local comic shop and said he would be in town and would like to stop by and talk to fans.
He ended up having some family issues outside of his control and was very late and really, really crunched for time. He still came to the shop. Did his best to quickly sign and talk to fans.
He chatted with my son in the parking lot and signed some comics for him.
Just a really nice fellow. I’ve tried to buy everything of his I can since.

He sounds like a really cool dude. I will add him to the list of comic creators who are very nice. I’ve met and had great interactions with Arvell Jones, David Mack, and Greg Capullo. Now McNiven is on the list as a great guy!
