The solicit for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #99 reads as follows:

City at War, Part 7. New York City descends into chaos after the unthinkable events of the last issue! Bishop is relentless in his pursuit, and a final showdown between Donatello and Metalhead will prove explosive!

This means that something “unthinkable” happens in TMNT 98.

Could it be Jenny dies? Or one of the others? Seems Donny is ok because he is facing off against Metalhead, Splinter “died” in the past.

The solicit for TMNT 98 reads:

A devastating act will change the city forever, and Raphael must choose which side he’s on! A pivotal issue with major events that will change the course of TMNT history!

So what do you think? Could TMNT 98 be the next in demand Turtles book?

Maybe Raphael leaves the team and Jenny joins… Then a few story arcs later Raphael comes back after he realizes he can’t afford any pizza anymore.

Raph could be leaving the team but that isn’t a devastating event they are talking about I believe.

Seriously though, Raphael joins the other side and Jenny suits up as his replacement . 98 will be a last page revial, the debate of it being cameo or first app in suit will fire up the internet.

The solicits for most of the TMNT books use the same verbiage.

Unless it’s a first no spec value. Either someone dies or switches sides/leaves from just the solit. So maybe it sells out because it’s a good story leading up to issue 100, but I see no investment potential.

Death of Splinter spiked well. It was a surprise. I have a feeling 98 could do the same. Just putting it out there.

Yup, it’s called the speculation game. Who cares what happens in it, if it’s selling, buy low, sell high, never look back.

Check out all the store variants for issue 97

Hall of comics variant is limited to 970 copies at $12.99. But for $19.99 you get two copies AND the 1:10 incentive variant. Seems like a good price for that bundle.

The CnP/Eastman #97 variant just went for sale I picked up 2 for the PC.

That’s a cool cover but all the store variants for first yellow mask is gonna kill 97. 98… that’s where I think something big is gonna happen.

Please don’t call these retailer incentives. These are store variants. Regular retailers do not have access to any of the other variants listed other than cover A and cover B and the 1:10 variant.

I couldn’t even move death of Splinter for double cover the spike was on Tuesday on Wednesday it was junk.

What makes you think there won’t be a gazillion variants for 98, 99 and 100?

97 is first Jenny in Mask, 100 will probably have a ton too. Unless IDW starts pushing 98 I am not sure it will.
