I’ve had one damaged book and one lost order that DHL never handed to the post office in 3 years. So yeah $40 extra dollars shipping every order to make up for the $100 order DHL lost.

Not counting every rigid mailer add to carts they have sent of course lol

If you try to create a FedEx label and use the cost of all the books for the insurance, it costs exactly what tfaw charges, at the provided weight.

Its not only the cost of the shipping. Its also which books they choose to ship, and how many packages. I am a long time TFAW customer, besides other online sellers - TFAW has been unique for the last two years in their handling and shipping charges. The insurance part should have been disclosed !

Shipping is a very difficult thing to get right…you don’t want to overcharge, but you don’t want to cram so many books into one box that the probability of damages increases significantly.

Thats a fair point. Its just that so many books, out at the same time, are not shipped, and then take another month or more (to process first and then a week later) to ship. When I see a shipment of 10 books with a postage of $20, and books that are also available at the same time AND before, not shipped, you can see how the packages pile up and postage too.
Now if I was told that the insurance option also was being tacked on, I might have elected not to buy. In fact, I’m still not clear when its tacked on, except based on what Alana’s post indicated.
And, I’ve been in touch with their CS, and get the usual it is what it is - delays due to COVID, workers, etc… Also, no reason for which books gets processed of all released the same time, and why earlier ones are still not processed. I have books on sale last year 09/21 that have not been processed.
Just frustrating !

I was finished with TFAW when I emailed them for three months about particles of food stuck on the back cover. I only recently got a response. They said soiling was allowed in VF condition. I sent them Overstreets Grading Definitions showing very clearly that minor soiling is allowed in Fine condition. They disagreed when presented with clear evidence. So they lost me over The Lot #4.

67 books…S/H $24.94

Maybe you guys should buy comics…you know…elsewhere.

Tons of places offer cheaper shipping prices…

This sounds pretty accurate.

I was exclusive to TFAW for the last 3 years for online pre-ordering. However since their multiple issues starting mid-last year I have sought out other options. I have gravitated towards 2 of our own as of late…Villain Gaming and Dark Dominion. To me, cost is not a factor, if the books I pay for are at my door on time and packaged properly. Providing the paying customer a quality product promptly…kinda Customer Service 101…

They’d likely just find something else to complain about…

Honestly, that’s just the cost of buying online, you’re gonna have to pay for shipping. If you don’t like paying for shipping, find sources to buy and pickup locally yourself. Then you go ahead and calculate the time and resources spent hunting down the comics you want, probably end up costing you the same amount in the end.

It’s a very simple approach and solution when you don’t like services offered by a retailer, stop shopping there.

Oh I don’t mind paying for shipping pretty straight forward people have options like usps and priority mail. I do mind however when my options are cheapest, insured FedEx, 2 day FedEx and I choose cheapest and tfaw changes it to 2 day fedex and send me some bs email when others are paying half the shipping for 3x the amount of books. You can ship a priority box for $20 and add insurance up to $500 for $2 up to $1000 for $8. I pay thousands in shipping every month buying and selling so I know exactly how much packages from Oregon cost. I just had a PGX order insured for $1000s of dollars from FedEx big giant box 5x bigger than a Tfaw box ship for less than a 20 book order from tfaw. You still defend TFAW Poyo but Anthony doesn’t because he gets done dirty too by TFAW on a monthly basis.

I was back and forth for awhile but I won’t even be using the credit on my account. Granted it’s only a few dollars but they have had way to many issues for way to long.

1)So Snizzlepop gets charged $67 for 20 books, and I get charged $20 for 20 books (and even fewer books sometimes) with some ratio variants in there. Now, times that three packages with the same shipping charge (in this comparison) and you can see the shipping adds up. Should this be an issue ? I am glad to hear that ‘faele’ thinks that $20 for 60 books is fair, because that was kind of my estimate.
2)If insurance is being included for the variants, should this be disclosed PRIOR to purchase, so that I have a choice in the purchase ? Or should I just guess and take my chances ? Just asking, because thats what I accept I am doing.
3)For those bemoaning mentioning the shipping charges - ignore the fact that I have zero estimate of the shipping or how its charged - weight, no. of books, packaging, etc. - ITS THE WAY THE BOOKS ARE PROCESSED AND SHIPPED RESULTING IN MULTIPLE SHIPMENTS/PACKAGES AND THUS $$$ - its not the shipping charges per se. I am not contending that I should have special discounts on my shipping charges. I order from other online vendors enough that I understand estimates/variations of shipping charges.
4)For those, acting like these are complaints - they are not ! I am sharing my experience on a Forum, on a thread related to TFAW status. This is for the benefit of the boardies and the newbies. I still order from TFAW and have never bashed them. But I believe its good to be informed of experiences, and then you make your bed. If you dont like the comments or dont have a problem, and this is my suggestion, dont take part in or ignore this thread/post !
5)Also, the argument of buying elsewhere, can be made for any buying experience, with any vendor - online or otherwise, and every related vendor experience thread here can be shut down with this excuse - “You have a bad experience, go elsewhere”. I see that only TFAW gets the benefit of the issue, not other vendors ! I buy mostly variants NOW from TFAW because of the variant prices, still doesnt mean that I cant be frustrated with the shipping charge(s), and share experiences.
6)I contend faele and DarkDominion are benefitting from some of the discussion here. Its not trivial because many on here have the issues, as seen by the many experiences being shared. I would contend that more folks feel the same.

Maybe you should read other posts …you know …if you have a problem with these posts.

Tons of other threads/posts to read.

If you saw the header at the top of the TFAW page, they realized there was an issue with their March prices, which I mentioned here. I also did bring it up with their CS but was told that it is what it is - no adjustments. I dont have the time to check what was corrected or if it was corrected, but accept that this is the price of ordering from TFAW.
No complaints, just saying !

Oops … should have read as ‘So Snizzlepop gets charged $20 for 67 books, and I get charged $20 for 20 books’ Original post locked, cant edit.

Has anyone had a TFAW package not arrive, but show up as delivered on tracking? I just want to know what I’m in for in advance as I notify customer service. I hate when this happens because it feels like the cards are stacked against me from the start.
