That, “Good,” ain’t too good…
A detached cover comic can be graded up to a 3.0-4.0, but my big problem is they didn’t disclose that cover was detached and it is missing a staple.
I’ve noticed that their grading isn’t quite as tight as it used to be.
They replied today and said that the missing staple and detached cover is within the grade. I said that’s all well and good but it was not noted with the book. They did do a refund however so it works out.
But the real question is had you sent it to CGC what would have been graded? min 9.0?
Glad to hear MCS stepped up with customer service.
Thanks for sharing
They’re not THAT incompetent.
Minimum 8.5 is more like it
My very first preorder with MCS was delivered. 4 boxes. Total shipping was …$5 ! (This would have been $40+ for shipping with TFAW)
All books were bagged & boarded. Packed extremely well.
I agree with you on TFAW. I gave them one last chance earlier this year. They canceled 2 of my variants, 2 star wars books, and 3 other books for the month of March. They only shipped 1 book out of the 8 books that came out that month. And it got shipped in an envelope.
I canceled 1 book 2 days before FOC and they had locked it in. I told them I didnt want it any more (yes it was a variant) and they gave me about it.
So yeah no more TFAW for me even though the way to order is a lot easier then my LCS.
I just got an order from TFAW, it was just for 2 books total so I was kind of scared when its not more than 5 or 6 at a time. Surprisingly they came in minty fresh condition in a Gemini mailer.
How is that possible? If I order one book they want to charge me $6.99 shipping…
When you place a preorder, the cheapest shipping for once-a-month is $5.
That is more like a deposit. You could be charged more I guess depending how much you order before the books actually ship, but I wasnt.
The books are bagged & boarded for free.
Luckyyyyyyy… I want that kind of customer service
Anyone else using MCS for more-orders? I’d like to know is this is an error or the standard.
I had ordered as much as 18 books from them in one shipment and the shipping was $5. My last 4 shipments have been $5 shipping.
I haven’t preordered from MCS but I’ve bought plenty of back issues and packaging is always excellent and consistent.
Also if you’re a reseller and have a tax id you can send them a copy of your form and you won’t get charged sales tax either.
MCS increasing shipping cost.
Hi,
We’re writing to make you aware of a change to shipping rates for MyComicShop preorders and subscriptions.
The new shipping rates for US preorder customers will be as follows:
$6.90 base rate for economy shipping, or $12.00 base rate for UPS Ground shipping
- $0.35 each for comics and magazines, and a little more ($0.70 to $1.50 each) for graphic novels and hardcovers
These are the same shipping rates used for purchases of new release comics and collectible comics from our website.
Effective dates
On November 1, 2024, when you submit an order, the prepaid shipping charged and deposited to your account will use the new rates. Between November 1 and February 1, any shipments that we send you will continue to be charged at the old rates from your deposited funds.
Starting February 1, 2025, we will use the new rates when deducting from your deposited funds to cover new shipments we are sending you.
Why are we making this change?
We know nobody likes it when shipping costs go up. We have held the line at $5.00 flat rate economy shipping for an extremely long time, dating back to the early 2000s. Unfortunately, our actual shipping costs have risen over the years and cost us significantly more to ship comics than we have been charging. This change brings our shipping charge in line with the cost of shipping.
Best,
The MyComicShop Preorder Team
Can anyone explain to me how ground shipping works, such that it would amount to $12 for a single comic?
Because I pay between $5-$6 depending on the destination in the US. Mailers in bulk are about 30 cents each.
Put in my preorders last week. Going to miss getting 4 boxes of comics shipped for $5…
I just put in my first pre-order with them last week…looking to take advantage of that $5 deal…
Whomp whomp…
