HBO MAX is getting Discovery+ content but Discovery+ will still be its own service if folks only want it. Peacock isn’t involved in this to my understanding.

I mean they should’ve kept HBO in the name. Seriously, Max?! If I need to watch some soft core porn late at night I’ll turn on Cinemax.

Funny you’d say that as my wife said, “MAX,” sounded vaguely adult-geared too when the news was discussing it.

Wasn’t HBO and HBO Max considered to be one of the better streaming services? I’m surprised they are removing themselves from that brand equity.

Blame David Zaslav (I maybe misspelled his name). He butchered the whole service and channel.

HBOMax didnt want to tarnish the prestige reputation of HBO thats why it was renamed to Max alone. Important to stress that when HBOMax was still a thing, HBO and the latter have different creative productions overseeing their content.

Think like Disney Animations and Pixar in D+

It’s a welcome change but the MAX branding is too weak without name recognition like Warner or WB.

I’m just surprised it sounds like a great movie after all the misfires.

I just have so much confidence in James Gunn. I have my own thoughts on some of the series and movies they’ve chosen to do and hope others will come to fruition. I’m really excited for The Authority and if he doesn’t involve the characters from Planetary at some point it’s a huge missed opportunity.

I thoroughly enjoyed The Flash. The story/script is totally focused on Barry Allen/The Flash’s overcoming his hurt and coming to terms with his traumatic experience. His character may be obnoxious early on but it plays well opposite with how we see him later on in his journey. It is very funny and very emotional at the same time. It really hits you in the feels despite knowing from the comics how this story is gonna end. Miller delivered and so are Sasha Calle and Michael Keaton. The camerawork here especially with how The Flash flexes his powers and Batmen doing their thing was dynamic. There are only couple bad cgi’s here and there but they didnt take me out of the experience.

I understand if people felt disrespected to some appearances but they felt to me as a celebration of everything DC. The successes and the struggles. I had a really good time. It definitely is a Barry Allen/The Flash story in its core til the end.

I enjoyed The Flash as well, though it would have been tough not to with all the Bat-goodness throughout. I do think its biggest knock is a lot of the CGI, though. There are enough sections that look like 2003 VFX versus 2023 VFX to take notice.

I’ll also say that the after credits scene is pretty pointless, so if you really need to pee or leave, you’re not missing anything important. In fact, if you really watch the credits, you’ll see a clue in the list of songs/performers before it even reaches that final scene. Kind of funny.
