The Mandalorian season 3 (The Book of Bo-Katan)

But do we really know if Gideon is actually dead? Pretty fancy armor he had on. I wanted zero questions to him being gone.

I have a feeling there was another Room with at least one ready go Gideon clone that just happened to survive. Doubt we’ve seen the last of him.

Now we know why Pershing got his mind flayed x1000. Still don’t think we needed a whole episode for it. Unless, Elia Kane was spying on Gideon and the New Republic for someone…

I think we are done with Mandalore for a bit. Bo-Katan got what she was after. Now she just has to rule and keep the two clans from warring, which based on Mandalorian history…good luck with that.

Season 4 will tie in with Ahsoka in that Din is basically a New Republic bounty Hunter now tracking down imperial remnants in the outer rim…and beyond.

Season 4 could be a fun watch if it’s Din going around knocking off each member of that council we saw in episode 7.

Spoilers below - So stop now if you haven’t watched The Return

I have to say that many things I thought were likely to happen did not.

The Armorer was not a spy…in fact no one was a spy amongst Mandaians.

Gideon was not leading the Palpatine nor Snoke cloning agenda…but cloning himself? I think that was hinted last episode when he said the best part about his troopers armor was it had him in it.

Did not get a Thrawn appearance or post credit cameo. And I was so sure when I saw the title was “The Return” it was foreshadowing a Thrawn appearance.

In fact no rebels cameos and nothing in this episode segways into Ahsoka.

No deaths of a major beloved character (Gideon doesn’t count).

No riding the Mythosaur, or full mythosaur action at all.

No cliff hangers for Season 4 to build on. In fact how everything wrapped up nice and tidy makes me believe there will not be a season 4. Not live action anyway.

So what did we get?

We not only got our Mando vs Gideon fight, we got a bonus Bo-Katan vs Gideon throw down as well.

We got to see some an amazing battle scene the likes not seen before. Jet pack ware fare! The Armorer may not have the fancy gadgets others have, but she makes the most out of her “war hammers”.

The R5-D4 assisting Mando scene through the barriers was great, in my opinion. I loved how he kept upgrading his armament as he leveled up through each “gate.”

We got to see Grogu save his master (returning the favor from past seasons), and be a true team player, befitting if a Mandalorian in battle. The Bachta spray scene was great.

And so so much more. Hard to believe they packed all that action into one episode.

And I have to think, even though they made some “plugs” at the end the their adventures of Din Djarin (and Din Grogu) will continue, they left it in such a place that this doesn’t have to be rushed.

My guess is that their adventures may be told on the form of comics or tv series, but not another season. And they’re saving some big stuff (Grogu with a light Sabre, Mythosaur action, etc) for the eventual movie that brings these series in this time frame together to fight a big bad Thrawn and more clues to how Palpatine somehow returning.

Season 3 was not my favorite. I much prefer the western self contained episodes of seasons 1 & 2. But I’m content with how things eventually wrapped up.

The penultimate episode titled “Spies” was messed up. They’ve been so good about the titles this season having more than one meaning or applying to more than on character…they should have dropped that title and just aired both the last two episodes as The Return Parts 1 & 2.

Just finished. Lots of cool stuff. Still loved Grogu in the IG armor. Moff Gideon’s Mando armor was cool. The new storm troopers in white Mando armor was cool too.

What I think is confusing people with the whole “Spies” thing has to do with the multiple definitions and uses of the word spies. A spy can be like the imperial chick we saw. But a group sent ahead of a larger party to scout an area also fits another definition of “spies”. For reference, in the Bible the Jews sent “spies” ahead of the larger group to check out the promise land. The Mandalorians sent a small group out to check the planet surface before the rest came down to their promise land. I think that is the dual reference for the episode before the finale.

If that comes out as a 3-3/4 fig I might need to pick one up.

Interesting take. Makes a lot of sense in that definition and would stay true to their using historical events as a basis to their stories this season.

Dark Saber spec just got Goblin Queened.

Ha! Forgot about the Sabre.

That was very symbolic. The Sabre was a big reason the separate factions were at war so much. Now they can’t bicker over an object, and a true leader will have to lead through respect and skill.

Im calling it now, Grogu rides the Mythosaur and becomes Mandalore.

I want to see Grogu riding a rancor, riding the Mythosaur with it wearing full Manalolore armor. Then they can go on wacky adventures.

So…something like this?
