That movie is never going to come out… let’s be honest with ourselves…
You think that applies to runs of random characters? I could see that on a book to book basis, but do that many ‘collectors’ continuously buy monthly titles and not read them? I’m not arguing, Poyo. I’m genuinely curious…and it is rhetorical.
I would talk with a lot of collectors (who were Wednesday regulars) when I’d hit the shops every Wednesday that were purely collectors and didn’t read the actual books they were buying.
Do I have actual numbers, that would be impossible. But yes, I’d imagine there’s way more than we likely realize out there.
I buy spawn like crazy. Always read it on my iPad unless I get a damaged copy. This is the way
Excited as hell for the spawn-verse
Dont forget his toys as well. I’m heavy in a few if the action figure groups and Spawn figures are hit and have been hot for a while. More characters can only help the brand.
I’m excited. True that the current Spawn book is a little dragy but that’s why he has Cates now to Recon with the Spawn world lol
Was hoping to hear Angel Medina mentioned. Incredibly nice guy, amazing artist, responsible for some of the best work ever done on Spawn, & technically created Gunslinger Spawn.
Wonder if they didn’t see eye to eye on something at some point?
I look forward to an Avenger’s style team of Spawns.
I mean, I don’t look forward to it, but I expect it.
The chain gang?
I like the name. You should write it
This wasn’t the major announcement I expected to happen during ComicsPro.
Any chance he brings Haunt into the mix?
I would love to see Haunt return
Spawn #319 is apparently the prelude, jumping on point, or at any rate an issue of “seed planting”:
(W) Todd McFarlane (A) Carlo Barberi (CA) Bjorn Barends
This is where it all starts, folks! This month in the pages of SPAWN #319 we plant the “seed” that will grow into the new SPAWN’S UNIVERSE: #1 (also available this month)!
Yes, the publishing world of SPAWN is officially expanding! And this is the jumping-on point for new readers! New threats, new allies, and more importantly new titles!
In Shops: Jun 23, 2021
I don’t think Haunt can return. I think McFarlane lost a lawsuit with Marvel about that character.
Maybe not…I can’t find anything on it.
Haunt is/was I think co-created by Robert Kirkman if I’m not mistaken. The whole Marvel thing was likely the Gaiman lawsuit where he won Angela and few other characters cause Todd tried to F him in the rights to Miracleman that he didn’t even properly own himself.
Always read the fine print ladies and gentlemen when it comes to copyright ownership before you go try and go using it in bargaining with others…
The Gaiman/McFarlane Angela lawsuit is actually a fascinating case taught in Copyright law classes and deals with the issue of what constitutes “authorship.” Seeing as a comic book is a collaborative effort between writers and artists, who truly owns the character? This is a particularly thorny issue in creator-owned comics, not so much in work for hire over at Marvel and DC where your copyright ownership (if any) is assigned to the corporation.
When I graduated law school I gave the first appearance of Angela to my copyright professor.
