Got my eBay bucks and was able to get a few good books and a bunch of Modern Newsstands. They seriously need to do more bonuses because I don’t see them very often and no more than 5% in a very long time.
First up another copy of Marvel Boy #1. Written by one of the greats Grant Morrison. Got it at a great price as well. Including shipping it was $8.98. A book I’ll pick up if it’s under $10.
My next purchase with the eBay bucks was a very cheap set of Journey into Mystery #503-513. All of them Newsstands except one. Newsstands were much more abundant in those years. A whopping $5.33 including shipping. I’ll have to get pics of those because the screenshots won’t load up. All the books are in the VF or better condition and I’ll take some pics when I get them.
The last of the eBay bucks went towards another copy of New Avengers #4 CGC 9.6. It’s the first appearance of Maria Hill who I’m hoping will appear in the Nick Fury series on Disney+ Another great deal at $32 including shipping.
I personally prefer the Spider-Woman cover over the Ronin. The Ronin cover is the variant but I’m unsure as to whether it’s a ratio variant which would make it rarer. The Ronin cover looks awkward and clunky to me.
Man I remember when I saw this lot on Ebay for 99 cents titled Arana heart of the spider but it included Amazing Fantasy #1. I guess no one bid on it because of the title so I got it for 99 cents, I sent it to CGC and it came back a 9.8. Sold it for $200 later on in 2019
My most recent sale was also a recent purchase. Picked up another copy of Captain Marvel #14 1st Cameo of Kamala Khan. Documented it previously in this thread but not with as much detail.
It wasn’t listed correctly in the title as it was listed as #13. The description however stated it was all the books in the pictures which weren’t very good at all. I still took the chance and ended up winning the 12 book lot for $93.14 altogether. So $7.76 per book.
This was also one of a few recent packages all shipped from Texas from different sellers that never showed in tracking until they were at my local post office ready to be picked up. I actually opened an Item Not Received Case to cover myself.
Some of you will know of some of my purchases that the seller either canceled or a few who print a shipping label and never actually mail it. Then they blame the post office because they dropped it off they swear they did. They just failed to appear on the post office cameras when they claimed to have dropped it off. Or the post office wasn’t even open. So I don’t mess around. I’ve literally lost out on thousands of dollars in profits from these chuckleheads. Black Panther #2 Newsstand, New Mutants Lot that included the keys in super high grade, etc. Just to briefly name a few that were bought super cheap.
Anyway back on track with CM14. They arrived and they were beautiful. CM14 was a minimum of NM and since I have another copy and it was bought specifically to sell. Sold for $205 including shipping. I did have an offer of $225 when I first listed but the person didn’t accept my counter offer of $250.
Bunch of new purchases and I’m going to just get started because there’s quite a few. Some were bought with the plans of selling immediately others are for the PC. It’d be a perfect world where I didn’t have to sell any because I’m a comic hoarder.
Okay first up is an order from MyComicShop.com via eBay. These are stock photos but I’m going to also list conditions on them. I’ve recently found their grading to be spot on and more towards under grading by a grade or two.
First book is House of M: The Day After #1x2 Fine Condition. This contains a minor character first appearance and I think one of the coolest names ever, The Leper Queen. Set me back $4 for both copies.
Next up is Fantastic Four #557 Newsstand Edition also in Fine Condition. No firsts that I’m aware of but you know me and Marvel Newsstands. I’m also putting together a newsstand run of Millars FF work. All of the newsstand editions of that run have the logos on top where the directs have them on the bottom. I’m guessing if submitted to CGC it’d get a newsstand designation for that reason alone. A whopping $2.
Ultimates #2x2 VF Condition. Nick Fury has a show coming to Disney+ and this is his first appearance. Obviously not the original but the Ultimate Universe changed his race and it’s his first. Set me back $7 for both copies.
Continuing on with the last item on this order is X-Men Deadly Genesis #1 2nd Print VF Condition which contains the first appearance of Vulcan. Another $2 purchase.
You didn’t think I’d finished did you? My wallet wishes I was for sure. Next up we have a few Newsstands of Allred’s Run on X-Force. We have X-Force #119, #122 & #125 all in VF or better condition. Number 125 contains some first appearances. Also some great character names and you’ll know the one I’m talking about when I list it. Dead Girl, Zippy & The Bush Rangers.
Up next we have Totally Awesome Hulk #1 MU Variant NM Condition a first appearance or two and a really funny cover with Marvel poking fun at themselves and all the different Gwens. Is this the highly coveted and sought after first appearance of Gwen Fang Foom? Idk. I’m going to have to look it up. Set me back $8.50 including shipping.
How do you follow up Gwen Fang Foom? You don’t and that brings up the next purchases all Star Wars books.
I ended up getting Star Wars #6 Regular Cover x4, Variant Cover x2 and 5 copies of SW7. All cover price or less. I’m hoping #7 contains a first full for Ochi. Have to wait and see if a first cover appearance comes out before #9
I’m close to being finished. You can insert some kinda joke here. “That’s what she said” works. Anyways Powers of X #5 & #6 Variants, Sword Master #1x4 All are NM and were $14.50 Altogether.
Onto to a few DC books. Justice League #30 & #31 NM Condition. First Cameo and full appearance of Jessica Cruz. Technically her hand appeared in Green Lantern #20 but that’s on my list as well. I got these at a great price of $45 including shipping.
And finally we have Amazing Fantasy #7,8,9,10 NM Condition. First appearances of a few characters including Carmilla Black aka Scorpion, Monica Rapaccini & Nina Price Vampire by Night. Whole set was $42. I can probably double or triple that if sold right away.
I liked, “House of M,” as well as the comics right after it. Things did drag bit with the mutants at such a small number for a while, but the event itself was fun. Nice pickups!
Trying to keep up with this so I’ve got both some sales and pickups. I’ll start with the sales. Sold a total of 3 books all to the same buyer & a fellow newsstand collector.
I have a dozen or so of New X-Men #128 Newsstands. Which is the First Fantomex Appearance. I listed my roughest copies which were in the VF-VF+ Grade range. I paid $10 each and they sold for $55 & $60.
He also bought my Newsstand copy of Arana #1 which could’ve benefited from a press and cleaning but was in FN/VF condition. This book was free as it was badly packaged and sustained shipping damages. Sold for $35.
Some new purchases and some steals in my opinion. I have 200 saved searches on eBay and wish I could have more. Same thing with watched items. I need more space eBay!!
The first 2 are both saved searches and both ended up being newsstands from the same seller. Some first appearances in both including Elixir. The New Mutants series must’ve had a low print run because I rarely see them come up as Directs and newsstands are very difficult to find in any condition.
The last most recent purchase was the second to last Jessica Cruz Key I need to pickup. Excluding any potential newsstands, combo packs or variants. Justice League #50 Which is her first as a Green Lantern as well as 3 Jokers related, somehow. Paid $25.75 including shipping. I have a ton of faith in HBO doing things right with any DC Properties.
