Venom #27 3rd print FOC ends today

Yeah, didn’t you see my fight club meme above?

No, Blue. I’m not trying to create artificial low print runs.

In fact, one could legitimately argue the opposite.

Do these forums with our pre-FOC conversations create artificial over supply?

I would love your response.

And i appreciate the sentiment. But i will be the first to admit that i do order somewhat from what i see here. Alanas post being the perfect example tonight. I wasnt going to order ANY venom 3rd prints cause i think its dead spec. But she convinced me to order 50. Now i will take that information and hit up the Retailers Facebook forum and be like " hey, i hear Venom 27 3rd print might be a hot item"

By your logic, I contributed to the discussion therefor i “deserve” to know the spec but am I allowed to share that? Can I tell my wife? and maybe then she leaks it to another spec site? Where do we draw the line ?

More people know about something more people are out looking for it more customers for everyone retailers and flippers. Basic advertising

I get that, but you’re not factoring in the growth to your site since then. Your site started majorly growing 6 months ago. Your experience from a year ago is moot.

Forums were created 17 months ago. CHU was established way back in 2013.

Chu itself has grown year over year 20% at least since the first year, the second year was up like 400% from the year before. People have said the same thing about the posts on the main site.

That’s just the rate of comic collector growth more people make some pay $1000 for 1st Miles we talked about Miles plenty for years when it was a $5 book no one was there to listen then.

statement retracted but was still funny as shit

Yup and I’m proud to say I found CHU like the second month after it started way back of April of 2013. That’s when @Anthony kidnapped me and forced me to work for him… creating spec posts so I get all the hate mail instead of him.

I think that the pre-FOC conversations generate interest in that particular book, from the speculator level all the way to the just reader level. Interest can be good and bad, good in that flippers and retailers will sell alot of books and bad in that too much interest could result in over ordering. I think that you are putting too much emphasis on the impact that 1 single forum can have, and tbh CHU isn’t even the first comic book spec site that pops up on Google or that I found first.

The bottom line is, if it’s actual good speculation it will always work out in the end, albeit a longer timeline for your ROI but it will come. If your just trying to pump n dump every week I can see why someone would want the ‘surprise hot’ books to be a some what more kept secret.

Well that line is up to you. But, the more that gets shared pre-FOC, the more damage is done to the person who gave you the info. So I would hope one would keep that in mind and not want to injure the person who helped them to begin with.

Like I said in my last reply, your over estimating the impact one site has on the entire comic book industry. I know Neopets selling/buying forums that have more active users than CHU…

I’ve collected comics off and on since 1984 the only thing that has changed is the speed in which one can get fomo thanks to technology.

here is an out of context graph showing Chu growth from 2013 to 2019

Post- FOC. Absolutely.

Pre-FOC, not at all.

Thats the nature of short term flipping though. to flip one short term investment into a long term investment. I dont blame him for trying to “limit” the exposure, but he is barking up the wrong tree. CHU has always given it for free as do the retailers that contribute to the discussion, its what makes this a unique community.

I’m not sure if people realize this, but the number you see after a link is the number of times it was clicked.

Alana’s link which started this has been clicked 23 times.

TFAW is one per as they processed their FOC yesterday. So that added nothing to the print run.

The next highest link was clicked 6 times.

I think @Venomismypassion you are overestimating the traffic these posts and links are sending to sites.

Even if it led to 1000 copies, a print run of 20k Vs 21k isn’t going to change anything.

There are many sites and many very popular YouTube shows that weekly do FOC lists/videos. News just isn’t that secret anymore.
