Who wants to guess what the reprint comic is in this pack?
The comic on the top is Venom 25.
The comic on the bottom is She Hulk 159 (lenticular cover…that was easy to figure out).
But I haven’t been able to nail down the middle book. It’s clearly a reprint as it has the “black bar” above the UPC. UPC is also oriented vertically (some are horizontal, which rules out Ghost Spider #1 2nd print).
Late to the party here, but an out of state family member tracked these down for me, as the Minneapolis area was cleaned out quickly.
I opened both, as the value of the sealed packs has dropped. I had low expectations for the interior books, but ended up fairly happy with them. Here’s what I got:
I wish we had those Walmart comic packs In Canada. Ordered four Strange Academy #1 packs from eBay a while ago and was pretty happy to find two New Agents of Atlas #1 3rd printing in two of them. Loved the small gamble, but would have been far better at regular, off the shelf price…
Well, one would think but I’m sure there’s a few people out there that might not know…
It’s like the time I had a friend who actually has identical twins and people would come up to her in the store to ask if her kids were twins (cause you know, they look exactly alike and were dressed the same)… she just started to tell people that they weren’t twins. They’d just look at her kind of funny and walk off…
Went to the local Walmart today to get some house stuff, and the comics they had were all ripped open with a few issues missing. My guess is someone went through and opened them all then stole anything worth getting.
I have been noticing that too lately. I look for the double packs too. 7 for $10, they will put older packs together. The last on I got had the Venom First “Sleeper” 2nd Print
Reminds me of Bill Engvalls “Heres Your Sign” Bit. Annoying small conversation starter is what it is and it so annoying having to deal with it constantly.
I boycott Walmart for the standard reasons. How they treat their employees and customers. How their business practices put all sorts of local and family businesses out of business. Idc what anyone says they basically have a monopoly that shouldn’t exist. That and the overwhelming sight of scumbags turns me off. Id like to stipulate I’m not talking about the severely handsome Rick Remender series The Scumbag.
I did however brave it yesterday morning after my overnight shift at work. I didn’t have any perishables so I stopped over The only people I saw were employees and vendors.
Their cards/comics section is right up front and was pretty well stocked with different size packs. Not surprising was the fact that about 1/3 were opened and picked thorough. Which how does that happen? I mean seriously it’s right next to Guest Services and all the registers.
Everything’s automated as far as registers go I don’t understand this level of shoplifting. Employees just watch people open them and make there own packs. They’re sealed in packs for a reason people. They’re dirt cheap as well. I didn’t see anyone doing it at the time otherwise I would’ve thoroughly enjoyed educating some scumbag. Guess they must’ve moved onto Ollies to open all their comic packs.
I didn’t see anything that stuck out but you can only see one comic. Is their any pattern in the packs as far as determining what else could be in there? I know some have used the spines to determine certain books but I’m only a short way through reading this topic altogether.
Anything I should be looking for in particular? I knew at one point Walmart had exclusives in the combo packs are they still any of those or are they simply back issues that didn’t sell? Hopefully reading through this in it’s entirety will give me a clearer picture of what to look fir as I have 3 Walmart’s in my area.
