Just totally take off your outer layer, ala Zoidberg.
Judging by the no. of Gleason 1:50ās available in the Walmart/Meijjer (?) packs, the minimum is a very high no., or the additional copies (damages, etc.) were overprinted. I agree with you though, no clarity on actual print no.s for the ratio variants. I have to rethink my variant purchasing strategy.
Why? Why would they have to open it first then send it to you? If I was buying them Iād want them sealed as they were bought at the store. I donāt need some tool turning it into publicity for their you tube channel or whatever.
Mine own stance has always been, buy at cover if available (yes, my goto shop has all comics at cover price if available and put out on shelf). If I buy at premium, itās normally either a) buy cause I like and know my shop wonāt have or b) buy knowing I can still flip at profit.
I stopped by two Walmarts on the way home and witnessed the death & destruction. All I saw was a some ripped up Marvel comic packs and DC packs. I will wait another 3 or 4 months when the next round comes out. I did picked up some half & half and ground beef.
The only thing I can think of is at least you know what comics are coming your wayā¦at least this way itās unlikely theyāre scamming people out of the possibility of getting some high ratio variants.ā¦.because if you just bought any 3pack they may just buy a bunch, then only send out the ones that clearly have crud in them after examining the spinesā¦and keep the ones that most likely have high ratios from what others have posted.
Just a thought.
But the buyer knows that this is the deal when they buy the books, so cant really blame the seller.
Yeah, I have many regrets buying high priced variants that are just gathering dust. Sometimes you just have to learn and develop your strategy the hard way. Still figuring it out ā¦
You keep repeating over and over that itās the buyers fault but not everyoneās an expert on comics. Sure they should research but any seller who canāt fit REPRINT/FACSIMILE in the title is a shady pos.
Something is Killing the EBay Sellerās Ability to Fit the Name of the Bool in the Listing Title
Not sure about me repeatingā¦ I was referring to your comment on the video of the guy opening his packs. Maybe you have me confused with another of the posters. But, I do try to be very clear about the books that I sell - if they are facsimiles/copies, as well as any damages, etc. and, then I list for the price I would like to sell at. After that, it is the buyers responsibility to read the description. Some facsimiles do sell for more than others (the UF4 reprint sold for awhile, the True Believers, etc). But I feel, for an online transaction - there is a responsibility to describe the item accurately, and clearly, BUT there is also a responsibility on the buyer to read the description, ask questions, be sure they are comfortable with the item, and then buy. The higher the price, the more interest a buyer should take in the description. I do agree that you should draw attention to the fact if it is a facsimile (or any defects) but after that itās on the buyer. It a lot of work to refund, request the book back, lose money on fees/postage, worry about the book being further damaged, etc.
Letās just all agree that the seller likely is intentionally leaving out pertinent information in effort to make more money dishonesty and the buyers should not be shelling out such large sums without looking beyond just the title.
Isnāt that what weāre all saying?
I have considered creating similar listings just as a means of WARNING people to pay more attentionā¦but you can only lead the horse to waterā¦.
Thatās what I was saying. I blame both sides but I lean a little more against the sellers who are listing things without making it 100% obvious of what youāre buying or bidding on.
One thing we can all agree on, also, is there are a bunch of folks out there that are truly not too bright at all.
Can we have that image of the store with the Closed sign on the inside?
Most people on the internetā¦
The problem Iāve had earlier in my newb comic buying was distinguishing between the first print and later prints - the color changes, the blurb on the inside about printing, the bar code identifier, the special editions, etc. The Faust series was one that had different publishers put out some of the books (Rebel Studios, Northstar, etc.), and I did not do my homework before buying the books (thought I had a deal, and couldnt believe the price ) Still, struggle some with the different printings, especially Marvel, now at the LCS, but online I know to ask about the printing with pics. People are going to have the same issue with these Walmart variants.
I think the ratio variants for Walmart are indistinguishable from the regular ones that would cost a ton. Itāll be a mess.
Yeah, the color on the logos. Hopefully sellers draw attention to it, and buyers are careful. Its the same with the Captain Marvel Artgerm (short hair vs. long hair). For a while, the Walmart variant was the rare one; it seems Walmart overprinted or reprinted the book, and suddenly they are one of the easier Walmart variants to find.
Yeah my Wal-Mart has tons of those art germ captain marvels just sitting there for months
I havenāt seen a Walmart ratio variant. Can you point one out?
