First things first, I wanted to start off by saying THANK YOU for the support on Phoenix! We hoped people would dig her, but we had no idea how many people would show up. I am truly humbled by the whole experience, and I want you to know that it meant the world to me!
With that said, I also learned a LOT from her. As you may know, we implemented a bunch of new systems for the Phoenix book sale; and although they seemed to work like a charm, I believe there is more we can do to make sure the whole operation works even smoother.
I want to make sure that EVERYONE who comes to my site gets the best service I can provide, and I’ve always believed that begins with transparency. There is a lot to get to with these books, so I’m going to take a page from the Fett-man himself and try to keep this short and concise. PLEASE READ EVERYTHING, as some things have changed, and I will hopefully address all questions and concerns in the points below.

The books have been graded, so we have the 9.8 CGC books on their way to our offices now!
1st & 2nd Printing…
The first run of books arrived with almost the entire order damaged. As some of you may know, there was a transition in printers at MARVEL, and unfortunately our 1st run was one of the last from the old printers. However, thanks to everyone at MARVEL and PENGUIN, we were able to get a 2nd printing.
The second run of books are almost identical, with a few minor differences. The legal copy of the interior will show two different print dates. Although the 1st printing cover is also slightly darker while the 2nd printing cover is a bit brighter, there is no difference in the integrity of the book.
We are breaking them into 2 distinct products on the site. This way, we can keep track of the quantities, and people can get what they want! There are much fewer 1st printings than 2nd printings, so we are pricing them a bit differently. See more info at the bottom.
PUBLIC SALE 1st hour 1 per Customer…
We saw how fast Phoenix went, and although that was mostly due to a TON of traffic, we want to make sure as many people as possible get a chance to get the book they want. Therefore during the first hour (6-7 pm est) of the PUBLIC SALE, there will be a one book per customer limit. In the interest of full disclosure, we do not have the ability to limit the number of types of books you can order, so you are welcome to get 1 copy of each. I’m not trying to open a hornets nest, but I figure someone will figure it out, and I don’t want anyone to feel like I’m keeping this a secret.
At 7pm (est) we will open it up to no limits. At which point, depending on supply, you are welcome to order as many copies of any book you would like.
If you choose to get a copy during the first hour of the PUBLIC SALE, and then get additional copies during the open time, we will NOT be offering the ability to merge orders for anyone in the USA. We will however be willing to merge INTERNATIONAL orders with a postage credit of $10 & over.
PRIVATE & PUBLIC sale…
In the past, I have offered special opportunities to people who have bought from us in the past. I have always kept this private between those previous customers, but I know it’s not really a secret anymore, so I figured I’d explain it to everyone.
Due to the amount of customers, the amount of new recent customers, and the amount of damages, it is not possible to offer a book to EVERYONE who has EVER bought from me. It breaks my heart, but it’s just not possible this time around. Because of this, we will be offering a PRIVATE sale before the 13th to anyone who bought from us in 2020 & 2021. This sale will be 1 per customer (like mentioned above) for the entire duration. Like with Phoenix, there are certain security features to ensure that no one is able to get more than one, so PLEASE read the email we send out. We are using our database to comprise this list, and will be sending emails out to those addresses. If you are a first time customer, and you get a copy, you will be added to future PRIVATE opportunities.
Due to damages and the nature of the different printings, we are only able to set aside a select amount of books. We will be offering all of the different books for BOTH the PRIVATE and PUBLIC sale. This means even within the PRIVATE sale, we WE CANNOT GUARANTEE ANYTHING!
Hopefully, this will help ensure both returning and new customers get a good CHANCE possible to get at least a copy! Again, however, WE CANNOT GUARANTEE ANYTHING, BUT WE ARE TRYING OUR BEST!
So, How Do Things Work for New and Existing Customers?
- PUBLIC sale starts at 6PM EST on Thursday, January 13th, 2022.
- Limit 1 book type per customer from 6PM-7PM EST(while supplies last). Then order as many as you like.
- Orders will begin to process and ship the week of January 31st.
- We are still a small team and require more time than the average store to ship out hundreds of orders, so we thank you for your patience and understanding.
- Once your order is shipped, you will receive an email with tracking information.
- If you have not received tracking by FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 4TH, please send an email to info@johntylerchristopher.com.
