Well, given the choice between JTC’s large print run, but mellow ordering experience, and Mayhew’s 800 copy 5 minute sell-out, I think I can definitively say I prefer JTC’s approach:

i asked him if he was gonna do a variant of this in a few weeks, no answer, mayhew king of the comic grift, if you read all that and think he isnt going to sell off the other 2200 copies at cons or ebay, you need meds

As far as his comment asking where the guy is when half of his print run is ■■■■■■ up… I’m pretty sure Mayhew just sends those ■■■■■■ up copies to customers anyway. I’ve gotten some comics from Mayhew that were in horrific condition.

Mayhew acts like a few LCS owners I know in my area. They don’t give a shit about their customers or business. I’ve had some of the worst customer service experience I’ve ever faced before, and they were all from comic shops.
I went to one comic shop that I haven’t been to before in about 2 years. Went once before, purchased a few books and left. It’s way out of town for me so haven’t been back since. Went there one Wednesday on ncbd and noticed the new comics for the week hadn’t been put out yet. I asked politely if this week’s comics were in yet. He looked at me as if I was stupid, paused for 2 minutes, rolled his eyes and with the most condescending and nasty tone said to said to me “look! I’m going to pull my subscribers box first and if there’s any books left over, I’m going to put those out”
Who the hell talks like that to a new customer whom they have never seen before? I just left and didn’t say anything but now I regretted it because I really should’ve told him to F himself.
It’s like the wild wild west with comic book creators and LCS owners with how they treat their customers.

Wow going downhill
We block and don’t buy from Ebay jackasses routinely.
So consider an artist now being blocked from every buying from again.
It’s in my noggin now after reading this and although I’ve not purchased from him before; I certainly will never for eternity.
Mayhew just dug his own grave. I hope others follow

I’m just very cautious about what people post about others on their instagram or screen grabs from conversations. I don’t even know how some of these platforms work or if they can be manipulated in any way to defame someone if they have a grudge.
That being said, regardless of who these people are…if you’re being aggressively attacked, don’t engage. Give a professional/polite answer, and be done with it. Getting to the point of trading blows, making excuses, diverting blame/accountability and using profanity is a win for the aggressor.

Mayhew was one of my top artist. Now he will disappear like a fart in the wind. You’ll smell it but after a while it will disappear

I’ll say this: when Mayhew was doing interiors, his stuff was phenomenal. Star Wars 15, 20. The Star Wars from Dark Horse.
I’m not as fond of all these exclusive variants being pumped out.
