We all hate store variants but

I’m not sure if crain had any input on these though, cause its just them making crappy stuff on the acetate and stapling it to his original cover so it could be something black flag just did on their own

So it’s a bootleg of a store variant? How random!

He may not have had input, but he approves:

A couple other strange things: 1. “In God We Intrust” is grammatically wrong. 2. Infinite Black Publishing?

“body unclear”

Clayton Crain’s store variant partner

LOL, the back is even tackier than the front. Wonder if “revision cover” will take off in the comic lexicon. I’d take Mayhew and his bad attitude over this garbage.

Edit to add: If I were Marvel, I’d be concerned about bootleg/“revision” stuff like because it implicitly looks like Marvel approved it. Maybe they would’ve, but if this doesn’t violate their original agreement, this might result in some approval process changes. “Revisions,” if you will.

These are just the big sellers on whatnot. Idk why he thinks their influencers. Maybe because whatnot directly gives them their exclusives to resell at high prices and he thinks that is being an influencer?

But I do agree with what he said. Imo CGC grading these as normal covers is the bigger issue…especially with cbcs seeming to phone it in lately…

I think if he did this on his own and sold it, it wouldn’t have been a big deal. When he got whatnot on board to market it with their big sellers, and then cgc on board to grade them as normal variants (and even then as 10s) is where you can see the collusion occuring that is really pissing people off.

Yikes, getting lots of play on youtube and social media.

Do you think CGC will retract the CGC 10 grade on this book?

I don’t know how they could… that would be a tacit admission of collusion. They are going to bury their heads until this whole thing blows over.

It just exposes how subjective their grading is and that they go along with pump scams like the Big Idea empty slabs.
