We all hate store variants but

His most recent Instagram post promotes the acetate book. Looks fully endorsed to me.
The post also says, “Due to circumstances I had to cancel my appearance at C2E2.”

Man when is the last time something caused a stir like this in the comic community? Seems like a massive shit show that only gets worse

It’s comical watching some of these folks try to defend themselves or each other as it ends up just making them look worse.

It’s not the crime, it’s the coverup. That’ll get you every time…

Is there a retailer out there on the forum who received the Marvel email? I’m morbidly curious what it says.

Let me know.

This is the most time I’ve ever spent on the CGC Boards and I’m having a great time!

While I do buy store exclusives from time to time, unfortunately, this is a big old turd pie. I am a HUGE Miles Morales fan and this sucks!!!

Why Douche Flag Comics did you have to do this with UF? It is truly, TRULY ghastly!

To all the suckers buying these at inflated prices thinking that the controversy will create higher demand and more $$$ - I hope it doesn’t. I truly hope this becomes a failed endeavor, especially for the dipsh*t influencers peddling this. One can also hope a ton of returns happen and they have to deal with that.

Oh, and CGC - you suck too!

That’s a shame, I was reading the comments to this video earlier, they were quite entertaining!

Looks like it was removed… Interesting

Yeah he removed it cause he was dumb af and basically saying “what they did is cool and not scummy and these are my friends and its okay” they were beating his ass in the comments, even from people who’ve been long time subscribers lol

Comics General on a Friday used to be a thing to behold. It still has its moments, but damn…

Here’s the official response from CGC:

We apologize for the short response yesterday and wanted to follow up with an explanation of our thought process behind the grade assignments. We treated them as we would any other variant cover that’s attached with an extra set of staples after the book was printed, and at times these books included the original cover as well.

There is a precedent for acetate covers being attached to a printed book, and then graded by CGC. An example is Stray Dogs #1 from last year. An acetate variant cover was attached with an extra set of staples, to which CGC assigned a Universal grade and a notation of “acetate cover” on the label. The extra set of staples were part of the manufacturing process of attaching the acetate cover, and not considered a defect.

If you’re surprised in regards to CGC’s response… well… I’m not!

Agree. I think everyone was simply waiting to see how bad it would be. I’ve got the over/under on two more responses like this before it’s eventually remedied.
