Is Black Flag is just Scorpion Comics renamed? Scorpions website doesnāt have anything for sale anymore and use to be one of the shops that did a lot of Crain variants.
no, scorpion comics split into spectral comics and carnivore comics
Also, Scorpion was out of NY. BF is SC.

I have never heard of them. As always, we would love to have more content and content creators come to the forum and the main site. They are welcome to come here and try something different.
Iāve been thinking about the store variant market generally the past two weeks and I think weāre seeing a major softening of the market.
There are a couple canaries in the coal mine Iāve been noticing.

Limited print runs without a virgin cover. Mike Mayhew released his Mandalorian 3 Armorer cover and it was limited to a couple hundred copies and there was no virgin variant available. KRS Comics has the same thing going on with a new exclusive they are going live with tomorrow. 600 copies, trade dress only. What this says to me is that retailers are cutting the cost of an extra 1,000 copies for the virgin option. These retailers are also charging $40 rather than the normal $20-$25 for a trade exclusive. So, they are also trying to make up lost revenue on the remaining stock of trade dress they are not selling.

We are seeing excess stock coming out from long, long ago. This goes back to Black Flagās UF4 acetate comic. Pushing aside all the CGC snafus and whether you agree or disagree with the practice of attaching the acetate cover to an existing comic, the fact remains that there were 750 copies of a trade dress still sitting unsold and available for this acetate treatment from September 2021. That means, after damages, and after 3 or more retailers offered it for sale, there was still 750 copies of the original 3,000 run available, Thatās a significant portion unsold.
I think exclusive retailers are trying to brainstorm how to avoid dead stock in a slowing store exclusive market.
Thoughts? Opinions? Memes?
There are no marvel exclusives below the minimum amount of 3000. Dc will do smaller exclusive runs if the cover price is high, example Harley 30th anniversary $9.99 cover 1000 minimum.
I know there are no Marvel runs below 3,000, but Iām just reciting what the stores are saying. āThis cover is limited to 600 copies.ā
Whether they destroy them or however they achieve it, I canāt speak to. Iām just saying that Iām seeing tactics starting to shift and I think itās indicative of slowing sales for these stores for their exclusives.
Good points. I think buyers are cutting back, especially store variants, as there seems to be a much stronger speculation value to incentive ratios. As store incentives raise their pricing to make up for lack of sales, incentives would be a better value dollar for dollar.
I still think store variants have better covers, in general, but I just donāt go looking for them unless they are just dirt cheap and fall into my basket.
