I buy some of the Hive variants, but this just seems like a roip off of the #2 1:25 — how much time has to pass before we “homage” something??

I like Mayhew’s art. At least, his old stuff where he illustrated The Star Wars Lucas Script from Dark Horse, the Kenobi Journal issues of Star Wars (2015). I like his stuff.
But I think he’s headed down a dark variant path.

That’s my thought. Seems like they’re just copying it knowing that it’s a valuable variant that caused buzz moreso than having a real design/artistic reason to do it.
