We all hate store variants but

Haha, I love it! Straight to the point. Would’ve added it to the portfolio, but we are passed foc now.

Big Time Collectibles has a virgin variant of the awesome Kael Ngu cover A for Ghost Rider #1 on sale Friday. Limited to 1000.

Poyo’s Guide to Buying Comics… never spend more than cover price on a cover you can get at cover price!

That is pretty cool but Ghost Rider kinda looks like he is riding a chainsaw…that’s on fire. I really want a fire chainsaw now.

Exactly what I thought myself. Cool cover… and then… and then… there’s that chainsaw?

Guess people were with me on this one. Damn. Seriously, get everything you see at regular price by Javan Jordan aka Illest Uminati. Seemingly everything he’s done this year popped… running fire auctions on whatnot right now, actually.

From a flipping perspective, I gotta say the man has a point.
These days tracing, photoshopping, copying and other assorted nonsense do not matter from a flipping perspective. We should all remember that it’s not about what we think. All one has to do is ask themselves will the masses of individuals think. Ask yourself is the cover (not story) “cool”, “dope”, “sick” or a “beast”. If you can answer with a yes on any of those, you have a winner even if it’s something I, personally, would toss in the garbage

Guy is a joke though… he’s got zero talent after it was proved he just ripped photos off the internet to create his collage of bullshit! People are stupid and I bet most if they knew that cover was half assed, they’ll be demanding their money back unless they purely bought because it was done by a fake effing artist.

That’s for sh*t sure!

To be fair to the buyers, they probably don’t know what we (now) know and just thought the cover is cool. Art is subjective (regardless of talent) and this is just another case of of that. I don’t think there will be any returns filed but I could be wrong. All press is good press - right?

MJ, bubble gum, guns, limited edition. I get it (but didn’t get it).

Bridges for sale over the Gobi Desert, Snake Oil

There’s a reason he photoshops things:

This is Javan’s original art.

People use computers to render art and we’re worried about photoshop now? He creates awesome covers. I could not possibly care less how he gets there.

People are willing to pay for his covers. I’m willing to pay for his covers. Do any of you know why?

He’s an independent hip hop artist. People dig his music and like when one of their guys gets into art like this. It feels like it’s kind of our special niche of the comic side. Hip Hop homages, MCs and producers writing and drawing comics, guys like this doing covers like this…

It doesn’t seem like anyone here is in that scene, and that’s totally fine, but I’m a resource sharing one of the easiest flips in comics right now today whether you like it or not… Javan Jordan covers, especially homages… This is just a tip for folks to make some easy cash, but it just has to be about shill bidding and photoshop… You guys cannot see the forest for the trees ever.

These aren’t shill bids. But why am I not surprised at that comment.

I agree that if a comic is selling for a large price and you can acquire it for a lower price, how the artist got there is not relevant to that analysis.

What people are injecting into the analysis is their own principals about what they deem acceptable. People don’t want to support it because he’s appropriating works that aren’t his and altering them in an attempt to pass them off as his own. If people want to forego hundred of dollars in profit because of that principled stance, I can’t blame them and I have to respect that.

We should be supporting those that create things. All things in life are imitation, yes, but there is a threshold where you have to say something is derivative and unacceptable.

People with the most basic of art software skills can do what he did. The most difficult part was masking and blocking the guns; which takes 2 minutes to figure out. I bet those boobs are copy-pasted as well. More power to you if you are one of the 5 people making money off of it.

To clarify would you be fine with the artist stealing images of your family members and changing their anatomy without approval and making a cover with it? I live by the Golden Rule and this doesn’t jive.
