Again, I have mixed feelings about Whatnot. I’ve had some very good experiences, and also witnessed a few things I consider very sketchy.
This 100% falls into the sketchy category. If I was any person who had any sort of vested interest in the success of Whatnot as a reliable and legitimate platform, I would address this behind the scenes.
It’s a bad look, plain & simple.
Whatnot, its sellers, and Megacon release a slew of new exclusive We Live variants that are provided exclusively by their primary, big name sellers.
In the midst of the weekend, unconfirmed “breaking news” is mentioned by a Whatnot key player.
Suddenly, as we all know is the norm, that breaking news starts to spread like wildfire and random comments appear within the majority of Whatnot live shows that are selling these books “I heard this was optioned”, “It’s been optioned”, etc…
Not a single push back is ever stated (at least never in a single show or sale I observed). No “unconfirmed”, no, “I haven’t heard that”. Nothing…well, nothing but increased hype and bids that is
I’d love to see a new, reliable platform for the buying and selling of comics. I really hope stuff like this is looked at.
@Bluecontroller but the question is, were the Hardlee Thin produced that way at the time of production and released as a metal cover or were they held for later to have the cover attached to them? These, the metal cover was attached way after and to me is like putting a sticker on the cover, it has been altered and should have a qualified label.
Ohhh, I did not know there were doing that, I thought it was just an additional print with a metal cover. I agree with you, should maybe treated as no cover since they ruined the cover by gluing them on.
The self-contained first volume was fantastic. There’s definitely a story there for TV/movie. But, I felt that Age of the Palladions was borderline unreadable. It lost everything that made the first series so good.
Sometimes it pays to just buy what you like regardless of spec value. (Neither of the sold are mine, but it’s nice to know they are selling for that much)
That’s how I feel. I was a HUGE fan of vol 1. Bought all the covers, told everyone I knew to read it, etc. The new volume feels like it was done as a result of vol 1 doing so well and to continue getting sales/hype more than being a story that was organically part of it.
Its a great story and a lot of these series are im not knocking them, but its like every week a random indie or sometimes even indies are optioned before the first issue is even out and with how easy it is to option these properties it just doesn’t have the same luster or hype. Cause you can list off the amount of properties “in development” but it doesn’t mean anything if theres no updates or anything really
