At least they are doing new cover art. I absolutely hate later printings using internal panels for the cover.
I hear ya … should be interesting to see how this all plays out. Personally, I’m very intrigued by the story and looking forward to seeing where it goes… so much potential and an amazing writer to continue fleshing it out … again, will be very interesting to see how this one plays out.
Loved the first issue. Story seems like it can go literally anywhere, and the art is just magnificent. Even the simple series of panels with the robots cutting up the meat into square steak pieces was awesome. Can’t wait for the rest of the series.
FOC Monday on the 4th print. Ugh. Boom doesn’t like to give much time.
Any chance this one gets up in time @RipCityGamer? I know you guys missed the 2nd print with how little time there was.
Because they want more printings… These tactics are creating false demand in a sense… they’re playing the FOMO spec game…
They are playing FOMO to retailers who think they can catch speculators in the FOMO as well.
No FOMO here. Just grabbing one for the PC, as I really like this series so far. I’d think demand would be really low at this point, as everyone and their cousin got the first print (and maybe the third).
Sure that’s why, but it’s not going to work as well as the series took no one by surprise and most ordered heavy on the first print. It’s still sitting at my LCS. So they won’t order the later prints, as a lot of shops won’t.
Yup… a perfect example of the other title they did the same thing with was Once Our Future… I think using it as a comparison of what will become is likely on par.
The only difference here is, Once Our Future sold out pretty quickly for the first printing… so it’ll be interesting how this plays out (same tactics but still plenty of first prints out there). Will people cave to FOMO, feeling the need to collect each and every additional printing cover or will people realize they’re chasing their tail in a circle, wasting money on possible books that end up worthless?
That depends if you are buying to collect, or buying to flip.
The quick flippers on their game are the ones that win in this situation… while BOOM! tries to tell the world in their marketing emails that “this series is so great, it went to 15 additional printings… blah blah blah”…
There was a lot of hype for that book as well. A free promo for retailers at sdcc, talks of it being optioned or first look (dont remeber which). Plus the fast later printings that Boom did. It really sold this to collectors and retailers. Think we are on issie 12? And the print run has fallen but actual readership is steady.
Look at Once and Future #1 8th Print it took a while but prices are shooting up. Also remember it had a 6Th and final print but made it to 8 prints.
Anything new that shows up on the FOC list today gets added to the site, so it should be up at some point.
@RipCityGamer - I for one REALLY appreciate your responsiveness and transparency here on the forum. I’m hopeful that it’s driving more revenue to TFAW.
Was anyone able to get a copy of the 2nd print?
I grabbed the last copy on the shelf at my LCS, and that was 20 minutes after store opening on Weds. The other LCS had zip. I can’t imagine there are a ton of the 2nd prints. 3rd prints will be more available.
3rd print and 2nd print had the same foc
