If someone wants to buy a collection and not know what is a key or junk I’ll gladly go to their Whatnot show and buy the keys for cheap. Heh.
Pocket full of comics!
Yeah…pulled out a GSXM out of that collection. He knew that one! He so has some pretty good magazines (Vampirella) and says he did pretty well
I was talking with Lunch Money Comics a few weeks back at a show. He’s from Iowa, in a location generally prettt sparse. Not much competition out there.
Hey, you gotta start somewhere…he’s pretty open about being a novice and learning…if he makes a few bucks and enjoys it, and people are kind enough to help…can’t fault him.
I miss those videos.
I’m a fan as well. He has such a vast knowledge of gold, silver and bronze…enjoying his current theme where he’s going up year by year talking about the most graded comics…starting with the platinum age. And relating what books were popular and themes based on what was going on in the world at that time. I think he’s made it up to the early WW2 books now (1943 just posted today)
I like Lunch Money Comics a lot. He seems like a great guy and is very honest. I didn’t see the video where the guy pulled the GSX out of a collection. The one video I watched turned me off towards him. It was all maybe there is a key in here, let me know in the comments. I just didn’t really like it. But with that said he has 1200 followers and does whatnot. So if you know nothing it is hard to really sell a product.
Yep - Gary is great also.
It’s just with the depressed value of comics lately, I find the Very Gary collection pickups not as fulfilling anymore.
Gary is alright. I follow him. The one thing I don’t care much for is how much he talks about getting comics signed.
He’s a facilitator, so I get that’s what he does. But all I can think about is how many keys are “ruined” by writing on the cover.
To each their own, but I just don’t understand the people buying these books from him. They’re not getting signed by people that add much, if any, value to the books, in most cases.
Agreed.
And the artists he gets autographs from are the artists … let’s just say … I never seek out when I’m at a show. And I attend roughly 8 - 10 shows per year.
I actually want to tell a few of the folks I’ve followed that “less is more”. There are some I enjoyed but just once in a while and casually. Because they started trying to increase viewers, increase the number of videos and all of that…it just became tiresome and forced.
One specifically comes to mind actually…this young couple (at least to me they seem young). The Comics Den I think they call themselves. Young husband and wife out of Florida. Seem to just really love comics, and trying to make a go of it as a comic business. It was fun to see them, their hustle, their finds, their shows at their homes, etc.
However, they started pumping out soooo many videos…and even breaking up videos of things like one convention into like 4 or 5 videos that it became like trying to watch a Netflix series. I just don’t care that much. So I don’t watch them at all. Became too forced, too much. I do wish them well of course. Wish I was in Florida…I’d go buy some stuff to support them.
I’m with you there, he gets pretty much anything of value signed. I don’t get it…
Yes. Less is more. I also stopped watching those that do claims sales or promote whatnot.
