So…we watched ā€œThe Whaleā€ last night.
From an acting perspective I have no complaints. Incredible performances. Fraser deserved that Oscar. Supporting staff as well.
I can clearly see the film’s roots as a play/theatre production.

The story itself & film…just didn’t work for me. Just too much in their for me to digest (no pun intended).
My wife felt the same.
Perhaps just a bit too depressing for me I suppose.

Had to put in Stepbrothers after to lighten my mood.

It was a bit depressing but Brendan Fraser did great.

Everything Everywhere All at once was a great movie. Enjoyed it a lot. Nice play on the multiverse idea.

Everyone should watch RRR (Rise, Roar, Revolt). If you can find a Telugu version (original language), please do so.

If we’re gonna talk about crazy old horror movies we got to show some love to the first SOV flick, ā€œBoardinghouse.ā€

For those into over-the-top stop-motion made by a master with almost no narrative, Mad God on Shudder is the thing for you. It’s amazing!

I heard about that. Took a decade or so to make?

30 years. Phil Tippett started it in the late ā€˜80s, but gave up when Jurassic Park’s CGI made him think stop-motion was outdated. He picked at it over the years and got encouraged to eventually start a Kickstarter to finish it, which was successfully funded. It was released in 2022 with the Shudder streaming service buying the exclusive rights to it.

I watched it on bflix. Just don’t take it serious lol

Went to see Evil Dead Rise last night and it was quite good. Not as good as the 2013 instalment, but a solid splatter flick, if that’s your thing. Alyssa Sutherland was great as the lead protagonist also!

Is it more scary or more funny? I’ve heard a variety of things.

I saw a movie called Sisu, went in the theater not knowing what I was going to see, never knew the movie existed and it was AMAZING!!!

It’s a horror movie, not a ton of laughs

The previous evil dead movies were known for their gore, horror and comedy. I’d think they’d continue in the same vein.
