What Movies are you watching?

I’ve seen mixed-to-positive reviews and I’d watch it when it is streaming or on DVD as with the new baby going to the theater would be hard. It bombed in theaters, which is sad as it seems fun,

I’m thinking of going tonight to see it. Was about to ask about the movie here. Be back in a few hours tonight to give my review.

Just saw The Last Voyage of the Demeter tonight. Absolutely brilliant. Moody, atmospheric, claustrophobic, strong cast. I thought it was a masterpiece. I’m not much into horror movies but the concept of Dracula running loose aboard a vessel was brilliant. You really feel for our protagonists wondering how they’re going to survive their predicament. Fun night out at the movies.

Had a good time watching Blue Beetle. So refreshing to see an origin story where the family is very involved on the hero’s journey every step of the way which was a Mexican family trait they’ve hammered early on.

Blue Beetle’s costume and actions scenes were amazing! They really went hard with it without making it a cgi slugfest. The practical suit helped a ton.

I am a huge Dracula fan. Have seen pretty much every adaptation and own multiple different volumes of the book. In college, I wrote my senior English paper on the sexuality of Dracula (not as exciting as it sounds since it is Victorian and mostly can be seen as a reaction to Victorian restrictions).

Anywho, just got finished watching Last Voyage of the Demeter, I liked it a lot. It was a good adaptation of a small part of the book. Took some liberties with the story, as no one survived on the boat but got around it by one jumping ship at the end. Overall very good watch. Had great story telling and pacing. Would watch again.

Saw it bombed in theaters but got some solid reviews. I wanna check it out.

It’s a great movie IMO. Loved dracula since the 80s and this was a well done film. Lacc if advertising hurt this movie. Will be a hit on streaming especially if it arrives before Halloween

I could see streaming giving it a second wind.

Someone mentioned “Cobweb”…
We enjoyed it also. Not going to win any academy awards but given the lack of viewing options it was worth the watch.

Fella that plays Homelander was good in it.

Highly, highly recommend this film. Sadly, it’s only on Hulu. Should have been a theater release imo
It’s not perfect, but it’s unique, exciting, and thought provoking. Especially with slim pickings these days. Far more than meets the eye as well.

I’d love to hear your thoughts if you do watch it!

Watched it. For me, the weakest part of the movie was the Dracula himself. I loved it when he appears mysteriously than when he was fully revealed. The sense of dread was watered down a bit.

Yeah he seemed animated.

Finally watched the, “Barbie,” movie now that you can stream it at home. It was really funny and clever.

I really enjoyed it at the theatre. Laughters everywhere and surprisingly touching at times. It deserves its billion earnings so far

As Halloween is approaching, I have been ramping up my already continuous stream of horror movies. Watched Tenebrae, Opera and Suspiria as a Dario Argento triple feature over 3 days. Mad God before those and The Angry Black Girl And Her Monster after. Was a really fun retelling of Frankenstein. I love this season!!

I just watched the two most recent episodes of Doom Patrol. It was my favorite comic based series but it’s been kinda boring recently. Hopefully they make it over to the new DCU in some form.

Watched the Flash with my wife and son. It was entertaining to say the least. Lots of great “cameos” Loved seeing Keaton, but the Nick Cage digital cameo was cool. Christopher Reeves will always be Superman to me.

Not sure why his mom didn’t recognize Barry in the grocery store.
