Been listening a lot to Rainbow Kitten Surprise cause I’m gonna see them this July down in New Braunfels…
I click into this topic and an ad for Backstreet Boys pops up. Pretty sure we are the wrong demographic.
Haha… umm… yeah… NO… Backstreet Boys suck… (no pun to any actual Backstreet Boys fans here)
I liked Backstreet Boys and N’Sync. I could take or leave 98 Degrees.
I’m listening to Alice In Chains, Mad Season & Nirvana in remembrance of both Layne Staley & Kurt Cobain. RIP.
My current spotify starred list looks like a melting pot of goodness–2pac, Sofi Tukker, Cannons, The xx, Kavinsky, Holy Ghost!, CHEBO, Bowie, Rafferty, etc…
Lately been listening to Me Like Bees… almost sound like Modest Mouse with a few songs that have a little Pixies in them.
Meshuggah’s new album Immutable is really good! Listened through it a few times. That and a LOT of Type O Negative.
Haven’t been able to stop since it was released. I’ve been on board since Last Night in Town, but this is another level.
Release best album of their career and break up like 3 days later. Sounds about right.
I was just listening to Dark Distance not 5 minutes ago. The whole album is great!
It really is. So many different styles (metal, punk, indie, post-hardcore, southern rock) not only on one album but on some of the songs (Post Boredom). Crazy transitions and Keith’s tounge-in-cheek lyrics are at their peak. Can’t say enough good things about it. Hostile Architecture is probably my favorite track.
Going to miss seeing them live. Lots good times over the last 20 years.
I never got to see them live. I just came into them with this last album, but have started looking into their back catalogue a little. It’s good stuff.
I’ve recently started listening to Rotting Christ and am LOVING it! Rituals is a great album
I’ve lost count, but every show was amazing.
Their discography is a treat.
Last Night in Town blew people away when it was released, but looking back on it, their second full length album, Hot Damn!, really established them as serious players in the metalcore genre and has aged better. Hot Damn! also has some classic tracks (Floater, Ebolarama, Godspeed Us to Sea).
They really progressed into new styles while keeping the familiar breakdowns and energy on Gutter Phenomenon and The Big Dirty. There is a lot of Southern Rock attitude on Big Dirty. You can hear the groundwork for Radical in their previous album, Low Teens, especially on tracks like Map Change and The Coin Has a Say.
The other albums are great, but the ones I mentioned above stand out as important markers in their career.
Keith said his idea of reaching peak vocalist is Daryl from Glassjaw on Worship and Tribute. I think he really accomplished that on this album.
That’s a great breakdown of the bands high points! Thanks for laying that out!
This brings back some Maryland memories. It’s a mixtape from Eminem and friends dissing Ja Rule.
You guys ever listen to the duo “Lightning Bolt”!? I’m in a weird Lightning Bolt phase right now.
Any Paramore fans here? Patiently waiting for their comeback while listening to After Laughter.
For all the rockers, Jack White’s new album is fire!
And for all the old school country fans, Orville Peck has you covered:
Everything I’ve heard has been good…
In the middle of a move. Been listening to a lot of Yacht Rock to keep things mellow.
