And I’ve always found this to be such an underrated cover:
Edit: the story is fantastic too. Silent issue with Storm Shadow being chased all over San Francisco by Zartan with an epic last page.
Hmm yeah, I see your point.
I am still gonna do it though. Waiting for my wife to say “Lets take off, get tattoos, get drunk, and go gambling” again
I really can’t seem to get enough Pink Floyd, recently. Not a bad thing.
Just saw this. Takes me back. Great band. Was listening to Rival Schools the other day. Saw Rival Schools in Albany back in the day (2001). Can’t remember who they were playing with. May have been Glassjaw.
Keith from ETID is supposed to have some new project with Sergio. I haven’t heard any of it yet, but can’t believe those Quicksand guys are still living the dream.
Been listening to the latest Rubblebucket album (saw them in concert a week ago).
Also been listening to a lot of alt-J.
Alt-J is a great band. I’ve been listening to La Despite.
Evanescence
I have been on a complete Horrorbilly/Psychbilly kick lately. So many great bands in the genre.
Look up some stuff by The Chop Tops. I miss them live.
Evil 6, Concrete Jungle, Bitc#, Wagon Burner, El Diablo are some of my faves!
I was working at the Costco Gas Station on Monday, I was listening to my Playlist in alphabetical order…
Fire and Rain by James Taylor came on and I started crying. Just reminded me so much of how much I miss my father. He and I bounced music back and forth and we bought CDS in lots from Facebook or we would hit the Goodwills together. We would buy Music sets from Time Life and each pay half. I bought this on a deal I have yet to put it on to my MiniSD…
As Sinner from the Chop Tops said once at a Show… “Good Music is Good Music… It’s made for the ears not for the eyes so F… MTV…”
Oh, I had these on my Wishlist over a year ago. My girlfriend gave them to me, I make my calls and listen to music on them and no one even knows I’m listening to music. I can’t put earbuds in my ears because I get ear infections… so yeah they do the job…
A lot of drinking and listening to the Menzingers this week. Slowly realizing the well-known fact that I’m not getting any younger.
“how do I steer my early 30’s / before I shipwreck before i’m 40” hits a bit different when you’re looking it at from the other end.
Try out a Canadian band called The Creepshow. 3 different singers through 4 albums, but great horror-themed psychobilly music.
Been listening to Lorna Shore a lot lately. Their “…And I Return To Nothingness” EP is f**king amazing. Follow up album “Pain Remains” is really good as well. Ever since they made Will Ramos their permanent vocalist, it’s been a whole new ball game for them.
I actually love Creepshow and have been listening to them since the came on the scene. Horror pops are fun too (not Canadian though).
I highly recommend Floyd’s ‘Chldhoods End’ & ‘Free Four’ off of their Obscured by Clouds album from '72. The album is largely ignored as it was written as a soundtrack for an English film, i believe. You can really hear some of the sounds in rhe band that led to the making of more popular albums like Darkside of the Moon.
“The memories of a man in his old age, are the deeds of a man in his prime…”
I’ve actually only listened to Dark Side of the Moon, Wish You Were Here, The Wall & A Momentary Lapse of Reason. I added the ones you recommended to my library along with all the ones I haven’t listened to. I don’t think any will be better than The Wall. Thanks for the recommendations.
Pink Floyd’s Animals is one of my favorite albums, great story on the album cover too. I consider it on par with Wish You Were Here.
Animals is probably my favourite album of all time. I listen to it probably once a week in full. Its lyrics are still as poignant today, if not more, as they were 50 years ago when the album was written. Top shelf. But, the album must be played front to back. The 5 tracks are essentially one big song.. Meddle is another solid album with ‘Fearless’ being its best track, along with the blues track on that album being a duet of Roger Waters and some howling dogs.
Pipers at the Gates of Dawn, Floyd’s first album from '67, and featuring the writing talents of Syd Barrett (PF founding member and song writer who left the band after the album due to schizophrenia), also has some good tracks like Astronomy Domine, See Emily Play, and the strangest song ‘Bike’. I believe the Album cover to Wish You Were Here represents Syd making a deal with the devil for his sanity.
I used to like Pink Floyd, but now that cannabis is legal in my state, I really like them.
