Bad Idea

Sigh. I’m facepalming.

They might just be shooting themselves in the foot firing stores and making them reapply as if the stores have nothing better to do than fill out paperwork they’ve already filled out…

“You have to reapply and may not even be accepted the second time around. Also, you need to keep our annoying rules during this period where you are no longer an approved retailer. Also, we have no
more comics solicited.”

These dudes don’t understand how incentive structures work, do they?

I came across the following listing and had a nice little laugh at the description.

“First appearance of Bad Idea bullshit”!? Hahahaha

That’s pretty funny.

The cover of Eniac #1 also shows the facial expression that some of the (now former) retailers will have at this new level of trolling.

I don’t like all the weird shit Bad Idea did but I thought Eniac was a great comic.

Seriously, the comics were generally actually quite good. The gimmicks overshadowed that.

Just when I enjoyed the quiet with no new Bad Idea news this dumb stunt gets more press.

Not sure if my pic posted…1st time attempting to attach a pic.

Received my Werewolf and Retirement Plan books from Bad Idea yesterday with a letter saying only 168 people qualified for Werewolf and 148 qualified for Retirement Plan. The Werewolf interior artwork is black & white, while the Retirement Plan interior artwork is color. Should be interesting to see if any copies get listed for sale. I am keeping mine.

Who are the writer and artist for each book?

I wouldn’t be surprised if yes, 168 and 148 people qualified for these but there’s a lot more out there, perhaps people associated with the publisher will be releasing.

Whatever happened to the whole… we release first prints and then unlimited after? I thought this was all about the reading experience, not the… limited release to create artificial demand to up the value of our books experience?

F Bad Idea… they suck!

For Werewolf, Peter Milligan is the writer and Robert Gill is the interior artist, while Lewis LaRosa & Diego Rodriguez did the cover art. For Retirement Plan, Matt Kindt is the writer and Juan Jose Ryp is the interior artist, while Klaus Janson & Andrew Dalhouse did the cover art.

I think Bad Idea should release these books in a mass edition so other folks can enjoy these creators’ works. Seems silly to publish such small quantities. I am wondering if Bad Idea was waiting to see the volume response to this “promotion” before figuring out the next one. There are still probably lots of button holders out there looking for future redemption options.

We all know they didn’t just print 168 and 148 books… an order that small at the printer level (unless Dinesh is printing these on his home printer) would be very costly!

There are lots of legal tender holders out there looking for future opportunities to exchange such legal tender for goods. They should look into that system of exchange. It might simplify their model.
