CBCS Pickups

I see what you’re saying, but Squirrel Girl is also two decades older than Miles. So there was about 10 more years of sending copies to cgc than Ultimate 4 has had. The crazy thing about Squirrel Girl is the book came out in 1991 the height of printing comics like Jim Lee X-men #1, X-Force #1, Spawn #1 was 1992. This winter special didn’t even make the top 100 printed comics for the month it came out but is the most valuable book from 1991. Also the book is square bound making high grades that much rarer. Yes New Warriors which would of featured Squirrel Girl was cancelled, but it was cancelled because they have bigger plans for Doreen Green. Let’s also not forget uf4 was about $100 raw 2-3 years ago almost the same price Winter Special was going for at the same time.

Also no reprints or variants for Squirrel Girl to compete against itself with.

Plus there is no doubt a lot of those books ended up unbagged in dollar bins. I bought a 9.8 of this 5 or 6 years ago. I think the ROI at this point will be much higher on the 1st Squirrel Girl vs 1st Miles.

That Winter Special is definitely not easy to find in high grade out in the wild.

More of a mail call than pickups. Finally submitted after 2 years when a friend had an Evil Ernie #1 signed by the creators. So I added a few to a Rapid submission. Got these back after 1 month. Sadly I dont have a pic of the EE #1 but it was verified 9.0 with Pulido and Hughes signatures.

My first CBCS slabbed in about 8 years and the new CBCS feels and looks great. The new CBCS slab is very sturdy and clear of any newton rings. I am going to give them a try after the recent CGC price increase.

What comic is that? Looks interesting!

The comic is Strings which was Kickstarter. It is a psychological-horror story.

Order from June finally came in. All verified signatures

A few recent pick ups…the UF4 facsimile was an inexpensive add on simply for buying the others.

  1. I’m a big Stegman fan
  2. While I love the SW book anyway, my gut tells me that we could see Quinlan Vos in the Obi wan series (this is his first).
  3. I’ll never pass up nice copies of the Crow.

I’m sure everyone is staring at the UF4 9.6…but I’m liking the SW17…1st Vos! And CBCS to boot!

I sold a raw NM copy a year or so ago for $100.

Never mind…that’s a facsimile. Hope you weren’t duped!

@D-Rog
Nope…no duping at all. It was a toss in for anyone who spent money/made purchases during the sale. There were no shenanigans at all. I figured why not as it goes well with the original and 2nd printings as a display.

CBCS President Steve Borock did an interview with Dave Comic Book Investments channel thought some CBCS users might be interested in.

Key points
-CBCS will be raising prices soon cause the material used to make the slabs has risen multiple times. He said they haven’t raised prices in 5 years.
-They will be grading magazine books soon possibly by end of March.
-He also provided a 10% off coupon code for the month of Feb. you can look at description for it.
-He said some big announcements will be coming soon.
-He is collecting sealed VHS for grading and investing.
-More in house Signature guests will be going on at CBCS

I always enjoy his interviews cause of his history lessons/knowledge in comics and the random stories that he has are always cool to hear.
