Comic Investment 2020

You just didnt see it before, i did a run through of 3/4 mycollection recently and i was suprised the things i thought were mint i would catch a spine tic or busted corner. Like all my copies of TT #12 i was sure are 9.8s one had busted corner my first Miles had a spine tic. But who cares dont buy into the scam of your collection has to be all graded 9.8s. There wasnt a grading company for the first 100 years they were making comics no one cared about 9.8s that whole time.

Iā€™ve attached it to my Imgur images. This is from my Deadpool vs Spiderman run. At least 8 of the books got this spine damage.

They do careā€¦ Theyā€™re all garbage now. Send them all to me and Iā€™ll properly dispose of them allā€¦ Thanks!

Trust me I know. I bought into several Image titles and many never came to fruition and I have multiples of a lot of them. On the other hand a lot of them paid off. Peter Panzerfaust, Saga, Chew, Etc. I banked a lot of cash off those and sold at the height of popularity.

Oh yeahā€¦ Image puts out way more garbage than hitsā€¦

Just to follow up. I did talk to my old LCS to make a deal on the Hulk 181 CGC 7.0. He was originally asking $3K for it. I offered him $2,500. $1,500 down and the other grand in 2 payments of $500.

He didnā€™t take my offer. He said ā€œsooner or later someone will pay me what I want for itā€ WTF, Iā€™ve been doing business with him for a little over 8 years. And wouldnā€™t take a $500 cut I mean WOW!!! Oh well Iā€™ll keep looking and see if I get lucky with a deal.

What a dick. He didnā€™t even counter your offer. Iā€™d do my best to take my business elsewhere. He is then losing out on more than the $500, he is losing out on your business for ever.

Over stuffing your comic boxes with comics is not a good idea if you care about the condition of the books. If the book wonā€™t ā€˜slideā€™ on its own into the box, you are overstuffing. If the book needs to be coaxed into the box then you are overstuffing your box.

If any force is required all I think of are spine ticks forming due to the force wrinkling the cover as it presses and slides up against adjacent booksā€¦

Itā€™s like nails on a chalkboardā€¦I cringe and immediately stopā€¦even when at a comic shop Iā€™m lik ā€œwhat do I do? Force it in? Leave it out?

Sometime I just grab a stack and pull them out to relieve the pressure in those casesā€¦then add then force the stack back in at the end. :man_shrugging:

Yeah man. I decided to not do business with him again.

I need to buy more short boxes then so that I can release the pressure and not over stuff them. Thanks guys

I really like the plastic BCW short boxes. You donā€™t have those handles that fold into the box. It comes with a divider as well to relieve some of the pressure. The divider works great when you are filling up a box too.

Hmmm, buying from him for eight years and he doesnā€™t budge on the price? That does kind of suck. He doesnā€™t have to of course but if you have been spending a good amount of money over the years you would think he would be happy to make a deal. Oh well. always other dealers out there.

I cut off those tabs on the inside of the handles on my comic boxes. I then adhese the interior larger flap, to the interior wall of the box, so that it doesnā€™t ā€˜fold downā€™. A 56 pt. back board is then placed at the front and the back of the box such that no light gets in from the handle holes. Each short box, when maxed out, will have room for 10-15 more books (this is my overstuff bumper, so to speak). I can read the title dress of each book in the box as I flip through said box.

You know those flaps are there for support when lifting or carrying. As well another reason I learned of recently and it sort of blew my mind a bit because I hadnā€™t ever thought of it, is you can close those flaps to keep dust, light, cats, etc out. Iā€™ve also used a bag and board in between the flap and the box to seal it up.

Iā€™ve started putting my books in the BCW Plastic Storage Bins as well. I love them. Itā€™s going to take awhile to switch the collection over but there so much better than the cardboard. Those dividers are great when starting a new box or leaving extra space for new books to be added without the books all tipping over. We all know we hate that.

Thatā€™s silly. I got a 181 6.5 over a year ago online for 2.5k. Looks really nice, could press out to 7.0 if I cared that much. Since your offer was cash in person it was very fair, I was slightly jealous when I started to read it but by the end shocked he didnā€™t take it. He shouldā€™ve done that deal, you canā€™t ask for market rate online prices in person.

I have had zero issues with cutting my flaps, as far as support goes. I honestly do not think those little tabs provide much support of anything, imo. The tabs are there because of the manufacturing process to make the hole for the handle. Iā€™m not convinced that those tabs were designed to create ā€˜supportā€™, intentionally or not, M2c. All my boxes are short, not overstuffed and each have a respective spot on a designated shelf, so, I donā€™t need to move my boxes that often, or that far.

Yeah, they donā€™t help a ton with support but it helps a bit. I am over the cardboard boxes, especially longboxes.

Just saw the cover of Dark Nights death metal Legends of the knights one shot 1:25 (wow that is a mouthful). The cover has Dinosaur Batman and King Robin and this book comes out before Dark Knights Death Metal 3. SO what do you think, is this the book to get?
