I’ve never received this message from Ebay when shipping internationally before. This is new.
I can’t even create a label…it wants me to change the address.

Yup. Cancel and move on.
“Waiting for your guys response, supposedly” says it all.
Exactly, it’s like I’m lying to him that I contacted ebay. ![]()
Or, it’s like he’s lying that’s he didn’t get the item…tracking says it was delivered.
If he’s telling the truth, either USPS failed (and he should file the claim) or he didn’t provide a secure drop of point at the address (not your fault).
I don’t live in an area of porch pirates, but long ago I made sure I had a large mail box that would except comic mailers…in fact, when I replaced it recently I brought a Gemini mailer to Home Depot and Lowe’s and tried them all out to make sure they fit with room to spare.
Just saying it helps to have a mail box that accepts packages to mitigate the risk of theft. Leaving something “at the mailbox” is not acceptable for me…be it risk of theft or damage from the elements.
You show that tracking shows the item was delivered to the buyer’s stated address, you win every time.
I got the oversized mailbox
I had a buyer contact me today about one of the Mark Spears Wolf and Monster foil I have on eBay. He asked me if I thought CGC would grade it at 9.6 or higher. Usually I don’t respond to these questions but I went ahead and told him “I have no idea what CGC would grade it as”. Truth be told no one does. Just a best guess that this would. Anyway, he comes back and asks about corners and spine tics. I said there were none. He asked a couple of other questions. I said look. I disclosed any possible error or problem on the book in my description. I did say there was a potential it had the bag line like many books that came out of these blind bags had. I said I would need to look when I got back home. This one didn’t. Anyway. He comes back and said since there. Was a line going across the logo would I take 30% off because of the production issue (which was disclosed in the listing and reflected in the asking price). I told him no. That not only was I not interested in selling the book at 30% off, I really wasn’t interested in selling to him as I suspect there would be nothing but issues with him. Blocked and moved on. Plenty of other fish in the sea.
Dude, same guy hit me up! I told him the same thing and he didn’t like my answer.
Are there any spine ticks, blunted corners or blemishes on the front or back? Anything that would stop it from getting at least a 9.6 grade?
My response:
The pictures accurately represent the condition of the comic. I can’t guarantee any CGC grades. Just know that most of the blind bag Mark Spears books have difficulty getting high CGC grades due to the seam from the bag they were inside. If you buy raw it will likely need to be pressed before grading due to that defect. I’d suggest buying one already graded if you need to hit a certain grade.
My listing has 10 pictures showing every aspect of the comic
Assessing what CGC will give a book?

Oh that’s funny.
That’s like asking someone if they know of a good one-armed bandit at the Golden Nugget.
Or if they’re interested in actually winning 3 card monte.
Asking if CGC will grade less than 9.6 would not garner a good response from me

Just that dude believing in their grading is enough to know I’m in potential big trouble with him, regardless of any other traits he has
I would reply with something like… “All my comics in my opinion are perfect 20.0’s… I’m not however CGC nor work there, you’ll have to send them my pics and ask them! Buy the book, not the potential label!”
I had someone asking similar questions a few weeks back.
Should have told him slabs are worthless…especially 9.6.
Would think he could get it in 9.6 for less a than $75…no body wants 9.6. Better to keep it raw.
No body wants slabs right now except staple books. Modern market is cheap now. I should do a CGC blow out post again. Seeing bargains across the board.
I probably would have asked him why would he want to send a book to CGC when they’ve been clearly damaging books upon encapsulation.
I’d probably get the Gen Z response…(silence….then on to another unrelated question….)
Im still waiting for that one guy that tells me “yea but the label says …”
Is there a cement head emoji somewhere?
I will tell buyers in my listing what I think the grade or grade range is but I also have a disclaimer stating that grades are subjective and I can’t guarantee any of those grades, and I certainly can’t guarantee any of them if sent into a professional grading service and then tell them to take a good look at the photos and read the description carefully (as most of you do as well). Better to have those disclaimers in a listing than not, just incase the buyer overreaches and becomes a problem.
Ok, so check this out. So once ebay closed the case I haven’t heard from him since. Up until that point he was messaging me a few times during the process. Once the case was closed I thought about blocking this individual because the whole process left a bad taste in my mouth, particularly how he waited exactly one day before opening a case on me. He never contacted me before opening a case and once he did he messaged me for updates every couple of days. I forgot to block him, I thought this case was done.
Today just a few minutes ago I got an offer for a comic. Two different offers actually, I accepted them both. As I looked over the order details I noticed a name that looked familiar. Of course the name was familiar because I’ve been dealing with him the last couple of weeks. It’s the same guy lol.
Had I known it’s the same guy I most obviously would not accept the offer. It could all be above board and he may have put this behind him however, he’s someone I do not want to deal with based on our interactions. At this point the sale still says “it’s awaiting payment”. Is there a way for me to cancel the order before he pays? I have never canceled an order before and don’t intend to but it hasn’t been paid yet and I really don’t want to deal with him, regardless if there’s any shenanigans involved.
Edit: can’t cancel order. The book I listed has many extra copies lol
