eBay Seller/Buyer Avoid List

I’d be careful if I were you. Being a Top Rated Seller has specific responsibilities. One of those specifications is a one business day handling time. I’m not sure you can pre-sell books with a shipping date of 30 days out and still keep your status…and 10% fee discount. Certainly something to talk to an eBay supervisor about.

I don’t think they are. I think they are doing away with the “Power Seller” logo and program.

I received this email from eBay a few days ago;

As a PowerSeller, you’re one of eBay’s most trusted and valued sellers.

While the PowerSeller program is part of eBay’s heritage and has provided a meaningful badge for sellers, it now exists alongside eBay’s Top Rated Seller program.

Because the Top Rated Seller program offers more meaningful seller recognition as well as a wider set of benefits, we have made the decision to simplify our seller programs and retire the PowerSeller program and badge as of June 20, 2021. It’s been inspiring to see how PowerSellers have shaped eBay since the launch of the program more than 20 years ago and we now encourage you to continue your eBay journey as a part of the Top Rated Seller program. Learn more about what it means to be a Top Rated Seller.

So that you don’t lose the benefits of being a PowerSeller, starting June 20, your 7 calendar day grace period for negative and neutral feedback will now be included in the Top Rated Seller program.

In recognition of your contribution as a PowerSeller, we have created a special certificate which you can personalize and download.

Thank you for being one of eBay’s most active and long-standing sellers, and for contributing to our heritage. We look forward to supporting you as you continue to represent the best of selling on eBay through the Top Rated Seller program.

PowerSeller is such a vague term anyways. Honestly it only tells me you sell a bunch of crap. Top Rated Seller tells me you are top notch in receiving ratings from buyers. Makes more sense to me.

Good thing I’m both :grinning:

Oh yea, you’re right. My bad.

Thats what I’m worried about. If I can’t do preorders on ebay thats fine, I still have the website. It was kinda cool selling some cover A’s to unlock the incentive though.

Here is another seller to avoid, “zosocoats” zosocoats

After selling me Marvel Comics Presents #77 for $5.00 he then cancels the order 6 days later. Never emails, reason states says he does not have it.

He might have not had it, or had it and forgot he sold it somewhere else…he doesn’t look like he has a lot of experience buying / selling. I’ve had probably 5 or 6 things, for whatever reason, the link between shopify and ebay screws up, and ebay will show I have it, but I actually don’t. End up having to just eat crow to the buyer and apologize. Not vouching for him, just saying it happens to the best of us I’m sure.

Could be. But when you make a mistake you should contact the customer right away. I take pictures and then list the item. If I make a mistake with something I contact the person right away. Why take 6 days to figure out I don’t have it.

Oh yeah, 6 days is too long. I always contact them same day, or if they bought it at night, the next day when I go to package the order. That’s very suspicious.

Anything I listed on eBay I would put in my eBay short or longbox so A) it’s easy to find and B) isn’t sold anywhere/anytime else.

I do the same. Boxes of books I am selling and boxes to list. Plus boxes for books I am waiting to pop purchased for resale.

I have everything labeled and organized, but for whatever reason, shopify and ebay didn’t talk to each other correctly. I ended up with a streak of 3 or 4 items I had to apologize to the buyer for…hated every second of it, but there was nothing I could do. One time I was able to go out and buy the item because I knew it was something I could run down to the LCS and get, but the others I just had to suck it up.

In a scenario like the one you find yourself in, you need to directly call eBay and thoughtfully explain the situation to a human. I have found, in the past, from my own personal experience, that this can be quite effective when dealing with unruly, or unreasonable, customers on feebay.

Just Ctrl+F’ed my ebay name. Phew. No results found.

We can add it if you want? If you have to search, should we worry on why you’d think you’re on the list?

myso_93 - Bid on several of my books, and then didnt pay

chricamach48 - Bid and then didnt pay

herrlejeff1 - Did not read description and paid for the book. Never asked any questions or requested any more pics. On receiving the book, requested a return because he ‘didnt like it’. Said the book was presented as ‘high grade’, even though I pointed out the flaws with pics, said it was probably in ‘good’ condition, and never stated that it was high grade. Said it ‘smelled’ ! I was considering offering a discount, but after questioning him one time, he started insulting me, threatening to affect my sales. I then refused his return, and he mentioned something about ‘supporting Trump’ and ‘building the wall’ ("???") , and then negged me. Another seller, on seeing my feedback rebuttal, then contacted me and mentioned a similar experience, but gave in to him to avoid him.

What a nut

Yeah, do a small amount of selling on Ebay to fund my comic buying habit; wish I could fully fund it  , but its something. For the most part buyers have been great, but then I get the occasional oddball. This community has been good about helping me with specs to fund my habit.
