eBay Seller/Buyer Avoid List

I also try to stand my ground, even at the expense of a negative rating, as I think it encourages bad buyers. For non-payment, I make sure that a non-payer strike is issued to the buyer; hopefully Ebay takes it seriously. For other disputes, I try to work with the buyer, and if not successful defer to Ebay. I report bad buyers if they cause problems. Feel that even if it doesn’t work in my favor, hopefully it benefits other sellers. If I receive a negative review, if justified I accept it; I am not perfect, and am sure have made unintentional mistakes. If not, I make sure in my ‘positive’ rebuttal to make my counter case (Ebay does not allow for negative buyer feedback). Just felt I needed to stand my ground ! Reporting bad buyers here is my way of contributing to the community, because I have definitely benefitted from the community here.

If eBay let us leave negative feedback for bad buyers, There’d be a lot less of them. It’s complete bs that you can have the worst buyer in the world but you can’t leave honest feedback.

eBay has once again changed the system in favor of bad buyers. Now you can’t even open an unpaid item case against someone. So now if someone doesn’t pay you have to cancel the order and the only
thing to select that has to do with the buyer is “buyer asked to cancel” which is not true at all. They didn’t ask to cancel anything. They just disappeared after saying they were gonna pay for the item they bought. I think they still get an item strike against them but if I am canceling it and selecting buyer asked to cancel then how am I sure that is happening? Selecting any other option offered will just go against your seller stats so do not do that.

All this stuff has led to everything I list on eBay now gets listed on Mercari and some sales on Mercari have been surprising. People are definitely buying different things on both platforms. Something that won’t sell on eBay may sell on Mercari for twice the price. It’s really weird.

My solution to eBay headaches… I just stopped playing with eBay.

Sounds like a guy I work with. He started buying comics last year after he would over hear me and my friend talk about comic related things. He buys things at the end of the spec game, a FOMO type bidder and returns things if he does not like it.

I had a guy a couple of weeks ago buy some comics and then started asking questions after the fact. He took a few days to pay and then when the comics arrived they were damaged. He sent a message like I needed to do something because now they are not worth anything to him. I didn’t add his name because it is possible that something did happen during shipping. It was my first problem with any damages. The whole situation did not feel right. I knew something was going to happen with this buyer.

There are a new buyers that “Have” to have everything perfect and are basically scumbags that feel entitled. Not every comic I sell is in “9.9” condition…

I just received the below feedback after sending a partial refund to a buyer. I made a mistake, I owned up to it, offered to fix it… and this…

Description said it was a first printing. The book I was sent was second printing. Seller was responsive, it was packaged well, shipped quickly, and he gave me 50% off, but I ended up with something I wouldn’t have purchased otherwise.

Here’s all of our correspondence w/ the exception of a final apology/thank you note I sent w/ the refund.

Hi,

Just received my comic. I appreciate the thorough packaging. One problem though, this is not a first printing. See attached photo. Please advise on how you’d like to resolve this. Thanks!

I’m so sorry about that, thanks for reaching out. If you like, I can give you a 50% discount. Or, if you’d like to return the book, I’m more than happy to provide a full refund. Again, sorry for the mistake and inconvenience.

I was in a bit of a rush earlier when I sent that first message but wanted to make sure you had a response. Let me know if either of the options I offered works for you. Thanks again for reaching out and have a great night.

50% discount is fine I guess.

So they left a negative after you worked with them to fix?

I was too focused on the implication that I was unwilling to provide a refund to see it was just a neutral. Still kind of lame, but his comment wasn’t untrue… just didn’t tell the whole story and felt negative.

Neutral better than a negative I suppose. It still takes me a whole lot before I even go that route. Your responses would have probably gotten you a positive from me… you apologized immediately and then offered several solutions to fix.

I haven’t left feedback for him yet… it’s going to be an auto-positive, but I’m strongly considering commenting on the details of our transaction.

Ebay only lets you leave a positive, but I would leave a response clarifying your position. Just the facts - ’ I owned up and tried my best to fix things for the customer’. Just my two cents on how I would deal with it, you do you. Hope all your next sales generate positives, and wipe out the neutral !

Best thing to do is not leave feedback. That way they don’t get their feedback bumped up a number when you do.

Yup, nobody reads the positive feedbacks. It’s just wasted effort.

Sometimes I read them. I’m weird though.

You have two shots at a response - one where you respond to the feedback (shows up on your account), and two when you leave ‘positive’ feedback for the buyer (their account). I write both responses in BOLD to draw attention to the response. Anyone checking your ‘negative’ feedback will clearly see your response. Keep your response to the point/facts, and refrain from personal attacks.
I agree it depends on whether a buyer reviews the feedback, and yes it does add to the positive count for the bad buyer. But for me, my hope is that a serious/careful buyer will review the feedback before making a purchase. These are the buyers I prefer as they are careful about their purchases, and hopefully will be ‘good’ buyers, keeping both parties happy. Again, you do you !

Lucked out again. Buyer bid and then did not pay.

BWAHAH! … I crack myself up.

These are the types I don’t understand. Just get off eBay if you’re just window shopping with no intent of going through with the purchases.
