Reserved prices are like CGC purple labels…they have a stigma that comes with them…I don’t care for them.
I’m with @D-Rog on this. I hate seeing an auction has some kind of reserve. I ain’t gonna bid if I have to worry about that. Just list it for the least you’ll take and let the people bid!
I never said anyone has to like it, I"m just trying to bring forth actual “demand” that creates value. If there’s a product out there that no one is seeking or wants until someone tells them they want it, then well… you know… That’s all I’m saying. Just putting your own price tag on it doesn’t necessarily mean that’s how much it’s worth. I could have a one of a kind rock, it’s worthless until everyone wants it but if I’m just listing it at an outrageous price and that single crazy person is willing to spend that much on it, is it really worth that much when it’s only one person that paid for it? To me, it’s not, true auctions set real time value unless it’s a couple of schmucks driving up the price cause they simply hate losing…

Flea market find, the Le Journal Des Super-Heros has some interesting covers. Spider-Man’s face mask is super form fitting and Kravens outfit seems a little off.
Kinda struckout today at yard sale in which I was privately told via FM messenger there’d be comics.
Got 5 Superman MOS #18 and an Action Comics 1 1st day stamp issuance for $10; but driving 20 miles roundtrip (gas money & my time) was a big Meh.
As i do every weekend in spring, summer, fall i FB message every Yard Sale in a 15+ mile radius that specifically DOES NOT state they have comics in their listing and i privately ask if they do have comics. 49 of 50 i get no response or no comics. But this was one of those 1 in 50 rimes, and sadly he only had these dopey 90s death superman junk. I can throw a rock from my house and hit that 90s superman junk without even trying hard
Oh well
I am sorry that it wasn’t that great. The search continues!
9.8s of Superman 75 are $100+ books.
But yeah, not the retirement plan people thought it was going to be…
I got some stuff today… it’s still in the car. I’m posting this so I’m forced to take pics and share, I’ve been pretty bad at sharing pics lately. ![]()
15 days later…
Listed 25 (of potential 39 flips). Sold 10 comics so far and doubled my investment.
Of the 10, 4 were robins workout variants. 4 were Nightwing #87s (Campbell variant), Red Hood 23 and 25.
OK. I just bought what I think is my all-time favorite Marketplace buy. While I’m mostly a DC/Indy guy, I do collect Miles Morales books when I find them for a buck. Obviously, hard to find the early series that way. And, in the photo of this lot of about 350 books, it looks like some early Miles series were in there.
Well, I got it, and damn. Paid $125 for the entire lot, and everything is bagged and boarded and in pristine condition. So much cool stuff, and one big damn surprise.
About 50 Green Lantern books. Not my thing, but I have a guy who wants them already.
Lots of mid 2010s #1s and almost every series or event is complete.
This is why I bought it, and it’s WAY better than I thought. A complete, NM first Miles Morales series. So damn cool.
A couple newer books thrown in, but mostly mid 2010s.
The guy loved Carnage. Has complete runs of a ton of series.
By the way, this particular Carnage series has FANTASTIC covers
I’ve always fantasized about buying a cheap lot and getting this ONE particular book. Literally, it’s been years thinking that I’ll find one eventually.

But, I finally got one! And, for about 35 cents. With a press, it could be a 9.4 or 9.6.
Congrats Joe! Thanks for sharing.
Wow congrats on this find!
Now that is a haul and a half. Big congratulations.
Nice grab.
A winning purchase!
I don’t understand how so many of you here complain about slow sales. Seems to me y’all not listing stuff. With hauls like that at such cheap buy ins you should be racking up the profits. Even the NM set of Miles would bring in good money.
September was my biggest sales month ever. 2025 has been consistently really strong for sales for me.
A few more from this lot. There’s just so much. The struggle here is going to be finding stuff to part with, as I want to keep a lot for the PC.
Love this First Host cover
Full Tom King Mister Miracle run. Fantastic read for those that haven’t read it.
Almost everything is newer (within the last 10-15 years) but a few outside of that.
Several blanks, a few trades, a bunch of Scottie Young books, tons of spidey series.
I’ve stopped looking at Marketplace as much, because people are now watching it. The good stuff vanishes in minutes. But, this one had been up a couple days with zero bites. The photos didn’t show much, but I saw enough that made me optimistic.
My gut feeling is that modern book lots on marketplace gets ignored a lot because most people aren’t too familiar with modern books. We do because we’re on top of this stuff but the dealers who are looking for collections to flip only know the bronze and silver age stuff. They snub their noses on “modern junk”
This happened to me recently at a con. I was digging through $1 and $2 bins and I overheard some patrons talk about how they never dig through dollar bins. They only buy wall books for investments. Now this would make sense to me if wall books were fairly priced at the cons I go to. They’re always market price or significantly higher. I just mind my business while pulling out Mora Nightwings etc…
