I like what you got! (Goodwills, Thrift Stores, Yard Sales, ETC Finds)

Hit a bigger fall comic-centric convention yesterday. I was hoping for a Dan Mora pile, but mostly struck out. It’s the same thing that we see often. Lots of dollar books that are mostly run filler junk stuff. A few vendors that have absurd prices on everything. Some then have 75% off or stupid stuff like that.

But, I found a few books. Some Marvel spec I still believe in. Everything was $1, except for the Mora Batgirl. That was $5.

A couple first Ghost Riders for $1. Sure.

I still believe in Wytches. Maybe I just love the story too much. I thought I’d find a pile of cheap of Transformers from this run. One. That’s all I saw out of thousands of books. Junkyard Joe, I tend to buy when they are cheap. You don’t see these at shops much.

A bunch of these came from my main shop who was at the Con. They clearly bought a big collection, because every single book I got from them was sealed up like Fort Knox. I don’t get it. Double boarded and sealed multiple times with packing tape. There was no way in. I had to cut the bags off to rebag them.

Of all the comic vendors at NYCC, only one vendor had a Transformers More than Meets the Eye comic…issue #2B, and it was beat to hell. Several had IDW GI Joe’s, but had them marked $15 and up…

Maybe @bill got to all the good books on Thursday and will show us his amazing haul.

I hit up a few local yard sales/flea markets and picked up these books for a $1 each

Later Issues of Maxx and Pitt normally sell pretty well, the Storm Watch was signed by Jim Lee

I wish I knew what Lady Death to hunt. I see them all the time. Love the Maxx books!

My good luck buys continues this month. I bought a mostly full run of Something is Killing the Children for $60. Only missing 2-3 issues in the teens. Issue #1 is the 4th print, but I’m telling you, every issue looks like a 9.8. Kind of incredible.

Big time yard sale fail this morning.
Last minute posting on Craigslist - comics, LP’s, sports cards, etc… not far from me in a not too populated area in Hudson valley NY

I get their early; they’re not out - no problem I’m there early. I wait.
Start time arrives - now 4 comic guys standing around waiting like me; and 2 following the dude in the house asking to help take out boxes from house after being told multiple times he’s not ready yet. Real pushy dudes.
In the end we all get from yard sale guy “I’m not going to take them out for sale until much later today. I haven’t really looked at them yet”.

So put out a yard sale post for them and wait for 5 hours to put them out? sheesh
0 stars for the seller and 0 stars for the uber pushy comic effers.
It’s cutthroat out there

Fun update on this. I paid $60 for 39 SIKTC issues. Sold issue 4 for $100 and issue 2 for $60. I love a good profitable buy. I’ve got probably another $200 in listed books from this buy, and I’m keeping a bunch to fill in gaps in my collection.

That is the way to do it. Cheap sourcing. Pay off your purchase and make a return on investment. Keep what you need.
