Dollar bin fodder.
Legendary … in a good way… Unfortunately for me, this year has been brutal…Broken water heater / busted tire/ FLU / Traffic citation / and getting hit by another car… (AVG about 1 incident per month) Two tales of different world… Again, congrats and I just smile for you.
Busted tire? That sucks.
Those were cover prices? Damn. You made out.
Yeah… except for the ASM #113…they round up to a minimum of $1. I figured I could live with that!
Nope. You got ripped off is they rounded cover price up to a dollar. Take them all back this instant and get your money back. Also let me know the name and address of the store once you return them, I want to drive up and give them a piece of my mind for you.
Let us all know so we can ban together as one voice advocating for you and all comic collectors.
Holy smokes congrats!!
Snagged a nice haul from a local resale store. All in $90.
Prices for the unbagged comics were 30 to 40 cents each (don’t worry, the sticker easily come off).
Biggest get was the Ultimate Spider-Man #1 for $3.50.
I saw 2 on the shelf, but marked $20. And I saw about 5 copies of #1 in the same shelf with a $15 sticker.
Books I picked up in FCBD sales. 25% off cover price. Except where cover price was under $3, they were $3 then 25% off of that.
Dan Mora variants. Plus Batgirl Tarr variant (with new suit that the movie we’ll never see was to be based on).
A few TT Go flips. The Transformers book is the last issue by Dreamwave before the abruptly stopped.
The issue is the first comic appearance of Elita One, who was Orion Pax/Optimus Prime’s “girlfriend” in the animated series. She’s appeared in the Image series.
Some older Marvel back issues. After discount these were $2.25. Hard to pass on early Mcfarlane marvel for that price.
I picked up some Witchblade today as well. People don’t realize it but the later issues had John Tyler Christopher covers that can go for a lot of money.
Well…this last week & half has been some of the best comic hunting “luck” I’ve ever had. One more story to come but I think I’ll post separately on it.
I hit three different shops and one was the honey hole I recently found the 1st Harley for cover price.
You’ll see in the pic why the hands started shaking again, and another key comic gal joined ole Harley!!! Couldn’t believe it…the whole run…back to back in bags.
Everything in pics were $1 except Transformers, Sonic & Spider adventures book…they were 30% off cover price.
I honestly don’t know much about Lady Death books or Evil Ernie, but for a buck I can’t pass & I always have folks ask for them.
I never see that Deadpool Jeff issue & the Darkhold comic is the final issue and not easy to find.
Had a great time digging.
daaaaaaaaaaaaaamn !!!
Epic haul. Again.
Unbelievable great books!!!
It’s not uncommon to see pickups like this from Flea Markets and Yard sales, on rare occasion.
But to see these books from stores? - just phenomenol!
I don’t know what this/these stores are doing to stay in business, but it seems they are quite lost
@Bill
This shop is one that really has transitioned away from comics into one that focuses on gaming, cards & miniatures. They do have new comics & pulls but I feel like that/comics are quite low on their priority. They have constant events & the people buying Pokemon, Magic, Warhammer stuff seems to really be great.
The shop has been there for some time & I think it has a fair amount of inventory “somewhere”. However, comics take up so much space & I’m getting the vibe they want that space for gaming.
The other factor I think that is creating this positive result in terms of back issues is that many of these gamers, card collectors also likely collected or at least dabbled in comics
These folks are bringing in a stream of books to “trade” for cards.
The store just doesn’t appear to have time or resources to really go through the books. They do know (appear to anyway) that old books are something to really pay attention to. Other than that…the boxes & books just are put out for sale.
I think there are one more two of the “owners” that have decent knowledge of comics…but, as we all know… it’s work to stay up on trends, spec, etc. The other staff has zero knowledge whatsoever…and if they have boxes to be out seriously wouldn’t know that Nyx from a Turok #1.
The shop loves me at least as via my digging I knew where things were. So I kept proving assistance to kids/parents, fans looking for something lol.
“Oh…my pretty pony…that box there!”
