Yep. Makes sense.
As i was thinking about it, about 2 years ago there was a tiny startup store in my town that dealt with cards, gaming, and I don’t even remember what else.
I walked in one day when it had snowed quite significantly the evening before in the northeast.
In the back corner I noticed 4 beat up long boxes and went directly to them.
Asked the kid at the counter who was clearly in there as a backup to the owner/manager who was likely out due to the weather.
Found ASM 300, 1st Squirrel Girl, and many other books valued at over $50. The prices when I asked the kid at the counter? He shrugged his shoulder and said “I dunno - I guess a dollar”
Highway robbery I’d say

I went back in a few days later to pick up stuff I think I had missed. Picked out more books. But this time it was the owner/manager at the counter and out came the “Ebay Check” at the counter. I put most everything back in the box. Store is out of business now

I have been hitting a shop near my office lately that I never go to. New ownership. Their goal is to put all the backstop out at $1 each. They have a ton of wall books and keys but they don’t mess with stuff that doesn’t fit that mold. Needless to say I am pulling a ton of old 12-15 Marvel and Dc lots of silver age lower grade books bronze horror and more. This weekend they had all the books at 25 cents each. Came home with a box of over 60 books for $14.75 (so less than a quarter each.)

I find going to stores that say, “…and comics,” has the best results for finding back-issue gold. Allow me to explain…

If it is a comic-book store, yout odds of success for back-issues may be quite low.

When they are, “Video-games…and comics,” or, “Books, Toys…and comics,” or anything where comics clearly are not the priority and more of an afterthought, you could hit some wild goodness. That’s usually the case for me.

Another decently successful day at the resale store.

Today’s $1 & cover price finds.
Can’t recall who…but it was one of you who tipped us off on the Monster High comic. That book is not an easy find. So…thanks to this forum!!

I keep forgetting to look for that.

Those Monster High Pride books sell for a premium.

Dont know why

I got the shop I have been getting $2 and $1 scores from. Today got a Fantasy Masterpieces #1, Dell Annie Oakley #1 (I love dumb Dell Comics) and the prize today was a Fangoria Magazine #3. Really low number Fangorias sell well.

A shop in my area, literally, burnt to the ground a few months ago. They reopened in a mall a couple of days ago so went to have a look today. If appeared they bought a bunch of overstock from other shops and maybe a couple of large collections but they were mostly all new old stock. Didn’t see much but did find these all for $1.67 each. Run filler Micheal Turner and J Scott Campbell books that I didn’t own, and one early McFarlane that I only recently found out about. I’m assuming its overlooked since it isn’t signed on the cover by McFarlane. 21 books for $35 makes for a good Friday.

McFarlane did a bunch of covers for Marvel Tales. I think Adam Hughes did as well.

Nope. Hughes did X-Men Classics now that I think about it.

Sorry wasn’t clear, it’s Marvel Comics Presents #32, random cover art of Shadowcat by McFarlane from 1989.

Weekend hunting! Went to my LCS. These were $1. Love the Kong books. The Cheval Noir is cool, has a one page David Lynch story.

Didn’t realize I had the MS books but they were cheap enough and from my LCS. Gotta support!
Hit another couple shops that I don’t go to often but decided to check out. The one spot is well stocked, owner is nice but everything is marked up. Great back issue selection but boxes are packed but cover price and up. No holiday sales either but they did give me a 10% discount since I bought a bunch. Found a nice stack of IDW Transformers (Lost Light specifically) and GI Joe books. Also nice to find the Mr/Mrs X books for cover.

Last shop had a 50% sale on back issues, nothing spectacular but nice to get those Alien books back into my PC.

hope you guys found some success this past weekend!

LCS is moving, so they put out 50 boxes of dollar books to thin the back stock a bit. Nothing amazing, but I collect 80s Batman, and I found around 20 of them in great condition for $1 each.

Some baby keys like newsstand Bane breaking Batman, Year One, Killer Croc’s first cover…

A few other Bat books, Jaime Reyes, Hellblazer 2, a clean Spidey 13…

Then a few Swamps, other fun covers.

Oh, also met Zander Cannon and had him sign a few copies. Really nice dude.

$2 pickups today.

I will pick up pretty much any 12-15 cent-er and this is a fun cheesy Marvel 12 Cent romance book.

Todd McFarlane’s first published comic art. This one is minty.

Already have one but for $2 I think I can make money off this one.

Low grade is better than no grade and this knocks a big one off my FF collection want list.
