Yep. Makes sense.
As i was thinking about it, about 2 years ago there was a tiny startup store in my town that dealt with cards, gaming, and I don’t even remember what else.
I walked in one day when it had snowed quite significantly the evening before in the northeast.
In the back corner I noticed 4 beat up long boxes and went directly to them.
Asked the kid at the counter who was clearly in there as a backup to the owner/manager who was likely out due to the weather.
Found ASM 300, 1st Squirrel Girl, and many other books valued at over $50. The prices when I asked the kid at the counter? He shrugged his shoulder and said “I dunno - I guess a dollar”
Highway robbery I’d say

I went back in a few days later to pick up stuff I think I had missed. Picked out more books. But this time it was the owner/manager at the counter and out came the “Ebay Check” at the counter. I put most everything back in the box. Store is out of business now

I have been hitting a shop near my office lately that I never go to. New ownership. Their goal is to put all the backstop out at $1 each. They have a ton of wall books and keys but they don’t mess with stuff that doesn’t fit that mold. Needless to say I am pulling a ton of old 12-15 Marvel and Dc lots of silver age lower grade books bronze horror and more. This weekend they had all the books at 25 cents each. Came home with a box of over 60 books for $14.75 (so less than a quarter each.)

I find going to stores that say, “…and comics,” has the best results for finding back-issue gold. Allow me to explain…

If it is a comic-book store, yout odds of success for back-issues may be quite low.

When they are, “Video-games…and comics,” or, “Books, Toys…and comics,” or anything where comics clearly are not the priority and more of an afterthought, you could hit some wild goodness. That’s usually the case for me.
