I had to look that up…me likey.
Here’s what I said about that book… right here on the forums (no hyping from me):

It’s one thing to talk spec ahead of release, in hopes of the character sticking around, being used more often, etc. But I think in comparison, most “first appearances” are what hold value long term for collectors so these types of books if known ahead of time will be spec’d on. What I myself never try to spec on is existing characters doing changes to their looks, sexuality and so on, these never tend to stay hot for long. So in a sense, those who pump these are in it for the quick flip and will move on to the next book with such potential. So yes, I don’t necessarily like this aspect of this community when one only pumps because they’re likely doing it only for their own gain. If I happen to sit on one of these, I’ll sell so I’m partially guilty but I’m also over here usually warning those flipping or collecting to not buy into the FOMO of these types, do your homework and use your best judgement when buying.
Haha, I just realized my link is to a post that was in the Lounge Category… the one for trust level 2 or higher members. So here it is for all you non higher trusted members here on the forums (keep on posting, reading and doing activities here on the forums to gain more trust):
Went to Rhode Island comic con and shockingly not many comic sellers. There was only a handful so didn’t get much stuff but all of it ranged from $1-$2. I did get some sweet signatures and got stuff signed from Amanda Connor and Jimmy Palmiotti, Nathan Szerdy and picked up a sweet signature and remark from Sam Delarosa
One day… one day… one day… I still hold hope that Strikeforce Morituri is optioned and comes to see the big or little screen. One of my favorites from that era.
Good stuff! I find it interesting that any more, comic cons have less comic dealers than anything else.
Few more local pickups
Great Spawn pick ups!
Decent little cover price haul from a store I’ve never been to. Always surprised to see any pre #11 SIKTC on the shelf or in a bin still. I’ve come to expect them all to be on walls by now.
Anyone notice the massive stacks of House of Slaughter 1 at your LCS? I’ve seen three shops this week, and all clearly overbought by a lot. Maybe they sold incentives to cover their @sses, but damn. Gonna see those in dollar bins in 6 months.
There is a whole section that has to be dedicated to this one book at a couple shops locally. These books will be in bins 6 years from now. Most shops ordered 1000, which is way too many.
I grabbed a 1:50 for the homage and the Barends and Chinh Potter Exclusives and that was my entire HoS haul. Grab all those open order covers for $1 next year if you want to have some in the collection.
I ordered 5 House of Slaughter #1’s, and 3 of them were damaged…I’m waiting for replacements lol. I dunno, I found it funny.
Maybe the good news for us is that the numbers for #2 should be far lower. One LCS said they weren’t going big on issue 2, as they couldn’t sell 1.
I still think the 2nd print LCSD 1:10 will be a good one if you can get it. I can’t imagine shops went big on the 2nd print with stacks of 1st prints on shelves. Then to get an additional 2nd print LCSD version?
I’ve been wrong before once or twice.
This was my theory. Gonna stash a couple away just in case…but don’t expect it to go anywhere. IF IF IF it heats up, the first cover is not going to go anywhere.
I agree, I grabbed a 10 book bundle locally to get ahold of one of the 1:10s. Felt like a better option than even one open order copy of the first print.
My LCS doesn’t play these games. They might bump up and order by a few books if they’re close to an incentive, but they
Generally need to keep it tight to make ends meet. They’ve been around for 30+ years though.
That’s how shops should operate. The ones who know their customer base buy what they know they can sell based on pre-orders and then a few shelf copies. Shops that go crazy acting like consumers chasing variants I couldn’t imagine stay in business for too long…
Someday I’ll read it in a borrowed trade or during a comiXology $0.99 sale. At the end I’ll probably say “huh, that was pretty good. Glad I didn’t spend big dollars on it.”
Isn’t it also returnable?
