Very nice, the Heavy Metal is such an underrated book. And I like the Raiders for 1st Indy in a comic
Worth it!
Checked out an LCS close to the hotel I am at, didn’t have much time to check what they had but I grabbed these at least.
When your LCS that focuses on new releases has a “everything is a dollar” sale. Coulda filled a shortbox if I had time. Found a few 1:25s. A few gaps in runs. A few randos. Some new stuff I passed on these last few weeks.
What store do you go to Loverjw?
This is Mind’s Eye Comics in a Minneapolis suburb. Great shop with fantastic ownership. They are moving to a new location soon and I think this is the beginning of an inventory purge prior to the move.
Thanks. I live in Buffalo on the west side of the cities, so always looking for new places to check out when I drive the hour into town!
Make the trek in and hit Issues Needed and Mind’s Eye. This dollar sale goes for the next week I think. Two great shops.
My band used to play the Thirsty Buffalo in Buffalo before covid hit.
Thanks, I will try to hit them up. Thirsty Buffalo is a pretty good place to tag one on for sure! Pretty cool to hear about your band.
It’s like a Rorschach test! I do like it as well though.
Not so much of a find, but my LCS did hook me up with Jimenez design variant for Failsafe.
So far I just need the 92 Punchline and 95? Underbroker design variants.
Any LCS recommendations for the northwest burbs of Boston? Or Worcester, MA?
Is Somerville considered northwest?
I’ve been to this place once a few years back and wish I’d picked up a few decently priced silver age books.
The best comics were in a room off to the side.
Cambridge/Harvard Square?
A lot of books in long boxes in a small shop below the street.
Facebook page has pictures. I think this is where I found my Thor God of Thunder 2 & 5 books for cover just when Venom #4 came out (literally that day).

These were from an antique dealer friend. Fun lot!
Neal Adams, Joe Kubert, Mike Ploog, Bernie Wrightson!!! I like the Daredevil Annual given we get Namor and Black panther on the cover. I’ll always love Black Hole, Casper, and the cartoons I grew up with.
I never see these type of books anymore and I got them for half off to boot (and they were priced fair to begin with). My focus has really shifted to 70’s horror and largely the DC stuff over the last year.
Nice! Tomb of Dracula #3 (first Rachel Van Helsing) and Supernatural Thrillers #5 (first living Mummy) has some pretty good potential down the line!
You’re right, you don’t see these types of books at antique and used bookstores anymore. So many of them had tons of Marvel and DC bronze age horror littering the place! They were dirt cheap and sat for years!..Not anymore.
Prices have really dropped on that book in past couple months. $400 was typical of a 9.8 but one went unsold for $200 opening bid recently.
