I like that book, first selene
Something that has yet to be mentioned was the awkwardness of buying a newstand at a drug store/grocery store and it be a middle age mom with a judging look. I remember buying this newstand for that specific reason.
Newsstands were also returnable so that’s another thing that makes them rarer. For the most part they cut off the cover or half the cover and returned those to cut down on postage.
cool, thanks yall. rarer in high grade by nature of being sold on spinner racks makes perfect sense and i’d never thought of that.
at a convention last year a dealer had secret wars 8 in 9.8 and another copy in 7.0 yet the 7.0 was priced literally 3 times higher because it was a newsstand and i was dumbfounded. that still seems like an extreme (extremely stupid) example but i now have more of an appreciation for newsstands.
Beloved character and franchise
1st Shrek comic title
Late (2003) Newsstand
Blurry pictures so one can barely tell it these were newsstands?
Exceptional condition
Purchased for a song and dance because of picture blurriness
Thats a book I need to complete my Vol 5 run
Shrek is fun!
Snagged this from a great seller on Mercari. I also ordered Marvel NOW! Point One 1 and bundled it with this book. Selle3 sent me a FREE WildC.A.T.S 1 by Jim Lee (first Grifter!)
What do you think @ToddW ??
You need to tell me who this seller is so we can all give them business!
I’ve been looking for one for a few months now but have only seen a few, which were priced too high for me. Very nice pickups.
Just a tiny color breaking munch above the word “hero” but overall very clean! Love me some McFarlane!!!
First Venom Cover to boot. Might be a candidate for a press & cleaning. I can see a bit of soiling in the yellow area but a great pickup nonetheless.
Found a bunch of FF newsstand copies at a shop last week. That one shot must be really scarce in newsstand but @ToddW will need to confirm…
I’ve never seen one. The Millar FF books are interesting because the directs have the trade dress on the bottom and the newsstands have them all at the top.
That is interesting… I wonder if that was unintentional bec I thought it looked off when I found it.
