I’m not claiming such things myself… Just find it odd how people act like sheep after the fact and it’s still rather old news… and I pointed out Jim wasn’t the only person talking about this book.
Maybe I should make videos and just claim “I got sources but can’t tell you such sources” on every pick I got… That’s when I question the claims when people who also tout they’re not affiliated in no way. You just make yourself look more suspicious with such claims.
Wow. Really? I usually list out books that are new #1’s books worth watching because of something interesting happening and then lay out a pick a week or a pick and a small press pick. Yes other books are listed because I am pointing out different things people are interested in collecting.
But if you want to be insulting, you can go to Jim’s forum and hang out there.
No one is saying it is a conspiracy, just saying not sure why people get so worked up if he mentions a book in a video. Like I pointed out previously on the Hulk Annual Spoilers, and the post where I broke down the new characters being introduced, its just baffling that people come on and tout his picks, well after the fact, as being “ground breaking”. Needless to say, this has gotten way off topic.
I honestly think that Jim is a real joke. He disappears for months at a time and some how this guy has all this clout on books that have no news. His laugh alone in the videos wants me to punch him. LOL!
He finally acknowledges DrunkWooky in his video, what a nice guy. Stole his information for months and then got credit for it at KCC.
I thought he’s mentioned him several times in recent videos. Anytime he talks Star Wars he throws a shout out to DW…even though he’s the wookie that was formerly drunk…
That is exactly what feels greasy to me about all of this.
I have no particular issue with the Jim comics guy and his videos and typically enjoy them.
To believe he is just informally chatting about comics and highlighting a book he likes is a stretch though.
Why bring up the option and “trust me” blah blah blah. Just say how much you love the book. Jim has made it know that Nick from Key collector is a friend/acquaintance. Interesting that the new hot key book was added just shortly after the video.
Of course nobody is putting a gun to anyone’s head about buying it, but the format for these two hyping a book and generating increased sales is very, very clear. They have perfected the comic book self fulfilling prophecy technique.
The book will now be showing up on the new trending list Thursday and will then hit all other subsequent lists to follow further increasing hype, demand, and of course prices.
Jim’s been doing the same thing for years now. no sponsors, doesn’t have ads on his vids. doesn’t sell anything, genuinely likes comic collecting and seems to have a normal life like many of us in this forum. i don’t think he intended to be a “influencer”.
