Local Small Comic Shows

It doesn’t get that cold most of the time here in Texas but I’ve jogged when it got down to 30 and sleeting… no problems here!

Get out there and no complaining!!!

You could attempt a canoe across Long Island Sound on your own time. 20 degrees is do-able; just don’t fall in
I mean why go on a treadmill when one can traverse the Sound, meet comic creators and buy comic books?

Just got a call from the pharmacy asking if I was going to get my pneumonia shot this season…

My first thought is “I’m not at risk of getting pneumonia…” as I’m preparing to go out and jog in 20 deg weather…

I went for my 51 annual checkup. They wanted to give me everything. They offered:
Shingles
Pneumonia
Flu
Covid
Tetanus booster
And one more thing

I was like I am not getting all those shots at once. That’s a lot of needles for one day.

Flu and covid shots are easy, but that pneumonia shot hurts for a couple weeks for some reason.

So last years town budget they wanted to cut school funding in favor of a fire/police boat….because there were two incidents last year where they could have used one for search/rescue. Otherwise they need to call on a neighboring town for assistance.

One the person went out swimming at night, but was found safe later (false alarm)…was never in danger. The second was an idiot who went out on their sail boat during a violent wind storm in the middle of the winter…but was able to be rescued w/o a boat. Or maybe be just rode it out.

Either way…two incidents were a result of people making stupid decision…and did not require a boat to resolve. Bad examples why tax payers should sacrifice kids education over a boat.

And the point of this story is I don’t want to be the 2026 example the town tries to use to justify a Tax increase to buy a rescue boat in the 2027 budget.

I love the small comic and toy shows. That’s where you can actually find good stuff because the show has vendors selling interesting things instead of blowing a bunch of money on random guests. No offense to shows that have big guests

Never been to one of their swaps, but hoping to get there this time. I know a few Tubers (Lunch Money, Bronzeville, Very Gary) tend to show.

Just got back from the first day Fan Expo Denver, and I had a blast! It was my first Con too! I’ve definitely been missing out haha. Got sigs from Mark Brooks, Clayton Crain, Greg Horn, Inhyuk Lee, and Bill Morrison! I also bought my grail ASM 300!!! I feel weird posting this in “small” comic shows topic because this seriously wasn’t small, felt like thousands of people. Also, funny story with one of the Lee sigs, he accidently put too much ink on the book and it smeared so he wrote a nice little “sorry” message beside it. I thought that was cool of him to do.
