That’s some nice stuff!
I’ve started going to small local card shows lately just in case someone happens to bring comics. More often than not I strike out, but today was pretty good.
I I paid $140 total for these (clearly not $1 bin finds), but the condition on these was great and I’ve always wanted the late Transformers issues. The Iron man books are early Skottie Young and not easy to find.
I was pleased with the finds.
The Marvel Adventures line of stuff was good. All-ages friendly but well-written too and entertaining. I miss it.
I went to the elitecomics11 expo yesterday. I wasn’t planning to go because tickets were $30 after fees and that seemed steep to me for this type of show. I wanted to get steranko sigs though… which btw were $50 each (wtf). I don’t know how many more opportunities there will be though so I just sucked it up.
Honestly though the show seemed dead. $30 tix probably kept a lot of people away. Vendors seemed visibly disappointed by the turnout.
I scored some decent stuff but honestly, with the flippable books I’m buying these days (beefcake, Mora, etc ) this just isn’t that kind of show. Vendors bring their bigger books to this show with lots of golden/silver age boxes to dig through.
Anyone else go?
Wanted to go quite badly, but it was either Steranko or Miller (Philly Fan Expo) and I had already committed (bought tix) to the Frank Miller experience yesterday, (fortunately or unfortunately depending on one’s perspective ![]()
I did go last year and got to meet D’Onofrio (pic and autograph).
But yea - all those vendors know exactly what they have and exactly how much the value. I didn’t buy there last year.
Steranko has been $50 for a few years. It’s a lot but at the same time, who else is left from the Silver Age that still does shows?
Arguably still the best-looking signature in comics, too, in an era where many creators have illegible scribbles.
I was going to go today for the Jim Lee signing, but like you said they were charging high fees and it would have come out to $40 in fees. After seeing that I did not buy the tickets.
I attended a local show today that I always enjoy. I picked up a lot of cool stuff for well below what it normally goes for. New stuff was below cover, other items were simply well below usual prices. Here are pictures of everything linked below as I can’t post them all at once. Spent about $140 total, with the most expensive purchases being the Absolute Batman 6 variant, DNAgents and Airboy at $20 each. Everything else cost less…
Oh, I forgot to include the first and second issue of the, “Minions,” comics, which are part of the $140 I spent, but I got those to keep because they’re fun and my kids will enjoy them. I’ll pay $5 each for some fun reads.
Very cool grabs.
I’ve yet to go to a con (large or small) this year. Every time I’ve singled one out something comes up (or it gets cancelled).
And there was the time I actually arrived to the location only to find out I had the wrong week (it was the week prior).
I set up at most Hotflips shows now occurring at an Elks Lodge in Massapequa, L.I.
Did pretty well today with sales; alot of foot traffic
But the real news is the show organizer just announced today Rob Liefeld will be set up at the next show on Aug 2nd.
Ill be bringing my Liefeld books for sure!
Can I ship you one or two for signing?

Went to my first “convention” of the year this weekend. It was more just a local comic shop opening up his space (outside) for local vendors to sell comics and other things. I may look to set up next time as I think the table fee is pretty small.
Anyway, I did a decent amount of damage. Unfortunately the vendors really weren’t selling more modern books like what we have on our hunt lists. So mostly I just found deals for my PC.
The Vader and Marvel Meow are flips. Surprisingly I’ve never owned a Superman 75 comic. So when I found what looked to be a 9.8 contender first print I grabbed it. With the 25% discount paid $4/ea.
These I got from a YouTuber whose friend with the owner. Paid $11 total. Just some fun books for cheap I did not have.
I don’t pass on Star Wars Dark Horse KotOR or Legacy for $1 (ignore the price sticker).
Moon Knight annual looks to be NM ($3). The X-Men 213 may be a 9.8 contender (paid $15).
My last purchase of the day was this lot of books from one seller. They were various prices, some marked down…but total was $80 (just over $6 / book) all looking NM or better, if not 9.8 contenders. Love finding McFarlane Hulk covers in high grade for cheap…even if they were not his best. Building that run in high grade (already have the 340).
I see a Moon Knight comic (or one that features him), I smash that, “Like,” button!
