Magic the Gathering x Marvel is releasing figures with cards. Man-Wolf is drawn by Mark Spears
Very cool! But not $39.99 cool (for me)
Thanks for posting the link
Some exclusives from FarleyCon available on Mark’s page…
Those prices are wild.
A paltry $115 initial buy-in.
Makes total sense
Plus $45 for an sig??? I thought $20 was high at the Huntsville show….damn.
Ordered 4 comics last week (6 days ago). No updates since I placed the order. Requested a cancellation and refund tonight. Received the cancellation notice about an hour later.
First two experiences with Keenspot were great. This last one has guaranteed that I won’t be ordering from them again.
$45 a sig? wow thats as high as Ross’ sig $50
Keenspot is notoriously slow. These are direct from Mark’s store so the shipping should be quicker.
Anything over the price of $0.00 is too much for signatures… I’ll never pay for a signature myself.
It’s pretty ridiculous. I wanted some of these books, but I think the confluence of different Mark Spears related happenings have made me less excited about these books. Between the lack of communication and laziness of Keenspot, seeing mark charging $115 for a variant and $45 for a sig, the blind bag insanity, and the concern I have for the kickstarter being a good investment (due to the blind bag situation), the train is finally losing steam for me.
$45 a signature is pretty bold for someone no one had heard of 14 months ago. Business must be good.
Get the money while the money is good!
He is smart and knows there is a cycle to this regardless of the price and exclusivity of his books. Who could blame him if the expensive books are still selling.
When I first started collecting the price of a Stan Lee autograph was zero dollars.
My very first comic con that I ever attended this new Uncanny X-men artist was there, Jim Lee. His autograph was $0.00. Also in this same con a dealer had a giant stack of at least 3 or 4 hundred copies of ASM #300 selling for $5 each (Canadian). I went through the stack and picked the best one. $5 was the most I’ve ever spent on a comic book at that point…
Here is the thing about the free signatures, CGC autograph sellers ruined it. Thats when we started to see artists and writers charge for signatures 2017/2018 around there. I had a collection of backing board sketches done by a ton of artists. They used to do them for free. That was the good old days.
Hey @D-Rog, I said Backing board
That’s fine. They’re not for everyone. But I don’t mind paying $10…I think of it as a “thank you” as artists typically have to pay for a booth/table at a convention…and if they weren’t generating some revenue from it they may not show up and I may never had had the opportunity to meet them.
But I don’t pull up with 100 books…it’s one or two and I’d rather they have it as an appreciation of their art.
BTW, Need a fact check from @Anthony on this since he’s actually hung out with @agentpoyo at conventions. Did he ever pay for a signature that you’ve witnessed?
Haha… he’s gonna say no. But I did stand in line for him a few times to get signatures cause he was just too cool to stand there himself. But even those were at no charge. One year there was literally no one (hand full at a time) in line at JSC’s booth so we went to the Midtown booth, bought up a bunch of JSC covers they had and would get him to sign, walk around and get him to sign the next book. It was one autograph one book at a time. I don’t even think he looked up to realize we’d gone through multiple times…
