I guess I’m missing something…these folks aren’t understanding how to search auctions and listings? There are multiple listings for prices far cheaper…and many resources that took just minutes to find with copies available for cheap still also.
No dog in this hunt. I have my copies. I realize folks with money don’t care…they just hit the buy butoon and $30 is the same as $1 when your very wealthy…but I’m not quite getting it on this one.
Still in my area…shelves are fully stocked with this one–all covers.
The reviews are coming in and they’ve been overwhelmingly positive from everywhere. Here’s AIPT with a perfect 10/10 score.
I tend to watch review sites when I’m deciding to pick up extra copies. We have to remember there’s a whole other world out there besides the speculators.
feels a lot like a hot title we had to start the year…
Personally, I hope the book does well. It’s great to be excited by a new comic and series.
That being said, Cover A copies at or near cover appear to be drying up on eBay. Yet one can still order for cover from midtown (8 Copy limit) and MCS (2 copy limit, more than 10
Available). That includes listings on eBay, and undermines any legitimacy to these outlier sales. They are likely fools parting with their money easily, or shill buys. What else could they be?
Copies on some of the more notorious shops are being listed as “sold out”, yet we know some of these have a history of holding copies back.
Some of these also have tables at NYCC this weekend. I’m sure there will be copies out for those looking to get signatures and slabs. I’ll Let you know what I see.
Looks like Mycomicshop has increased the price to $10.99 with one copy per customer on their site at least. They must be running out. Midtown does have cover A at cover price still. Good chance they run dry today if people keep talking it up. I didn’t go heavy on this. Just three copies of cover A and one foil. Doubt I’ll buy more but if it does sell out and goes up a bit I won’t mind unloading my extras for a few bucks profit.
I just thought of something. Nycc is about a week away and Scott Snyder and Nick Dragotta will both be there for signings and promoting the book. By that time supplies should be running dry but this book will be ALL OVER NYCC, most likely with inflated prices. You won’t be able to escape it. That means the casuals or even non comic book fans will see this and get hit with it. It’ll be pumped like crazy there.
Maybe not a good idea to sell your copies now for a tiny profit until we see how this does at NYCC, see how it plays out.
My friend was at Midtown on Wednesday and got me a copy with both signatures. I’m not a huge fan of the artwork but he offered so I figured what the heck…
If those sell out today or tomorrow, then I would say there is legit FOMO going on. When they limit the comic to one per customer that is when they are down to a handful. Looks like this might have some spec value after all. I still wouldn’t go nuts, but a hot book is a hot book.
Did anyone have any trouble finding a copy of this comic book? Do you still?
My shops, even including one that typically orders next to nothing literally have stacks of this book (as of 15 minutes ago).
It was (as has been mentioned) the incentive offer from DC that made it an absolute no-brainer for comic shops. A bundle of 25 of this comic for $1 an issue for them. The ability to qualify for that incentive on this Batman book was extremely easy to meet.
Make that money of course and let the whole FOMO thing do its thing…but my hope is that there isn’t anyone here who would ever think of paying over retail for this comic.
Even the shop that usually is the whole “limit of 2 per customer” could care less how many anyone bought…
Only going off of their Snyder/Dragotta signing on Wednesday, their Whatnot guy repeatedly said there would be Snyder-signed copies available in a couple weeks, but they had to get through NYCC first. Given that the title seems to be taking off, it would not surprise me if Midtown just decides to sell as much as they can during the convention.
Midtown also has an exclusive with Dan Panosian to push, and they have a signing with him next month. They might hold back a few of his cover, but he’ll also have WW and Supes covers he could sign instead.
All that said, if the book keeps selling, I personally am not counting on Midtown having 1A signed copies up post-NYCC. If they do, will they remain cover price? Time will tell.
There’s a misconception that because shops here and there are stocked, it means everyone has easy access. There are many shops without copies on release day. There are going to be even more with no copies past this weekend.
There is always going to be places that don’t have easy access to comic shops. That is a given. I’m in no way doubting this is a good comic, that it is "hot, etc, etc. I like it.
For those of us here…did any of you have a hard time finding this comic book? Was it the type of thing you see with other hot spec books where there was like one copy on the shelves even? That’s all I’m asking. People are saying the book was sold out and not available but I’ve honestly yet to actually hear a single person give a concrete “oh no…I couldn’t find this comic book”
