New Comic Book Day đŸ’„

0/5 Shop. Most shop didn’t order or was gone by 11. Probably 2-3 copies for shelf. I could only get there during lunch

I managed to get one copy of the Lego Detective facsimile yesterday and it wasn’t easy. I called or visited 8 shops. 5 shops got none. 3 got one. I really appreciate the employee who was willing to set aside the copy for me that I ultimately got. It was a long day & I ended up putting a few extra miles on the car
lol. But
success! One of the shops that got none said the cover image was not available at pre-order, affecting his decision to get any. DC really mucked that up. All cover images should be available at ordering time. No retailer should have to order blindly. That’s just stupid IMO.

If it was Marvel, we all know the second printing would get announced in the next few days.

Yeah. They delayed it not to get out ahead of the Lego set reveal
but that being the case, why not just delay FOC? Was really that important to get the regular and foil orders in at the risk of less lego variant orders, which was really the only thing of real interest ?

It’s maddening because the regular and foil already had a printing a year ago. So why the rush? If someone underestimated the popularity of that Lego cover to the regular and foil, I question whether they are qualified to be in the position they are in to make that decision.

Granted comics aren’t a huge money maker by issue, but all that money pouring into aftermarket markups is money DC could have easily pocketed themselves if they waited a mere 2 or 3 weeks when they could reveal the cover.

And DC doesn’t just slap 2nd printing on the same cover without changing anything. It might end up being a slightly differ color, foil, virgin, and/or Virgin foil.

Those are coming. That’s why it’s a bad idea to invest in the foil “NYCC” whatnot exclusive which came out last week
Sell now.

That’s another thing
Amy of these Con exclusives by DC that are re-used art are subject to being released as open orders later.

Remember the comic mint foils of Action 1, Tec 27 and Batman Adv 12? All came out as open orders later killing their value.

What you are saying about the Detective Lego variant certainly makes sense. There was not an immediate need for it
so its order deadline should have been delayed if releasing the cover image was a concern. Crazy. And in the big scheme of things, all cover images should be available at FOC to be fair to retailers & comic fans.

Yep, DC took at least a couple SDCC foil exclusives and almost immediately turned them into non-foil open orders (Mark Brooks’ Absolute Wonder Woman and J. Scott Campbell’s Absolute Batman).

I sold my copy for $75. Wish I could find more of them!

Anybody who ordered TEC 880 Fac Lego from Midtown get a tracking number yet? I’m in “pending” purgatory.

Mine shipped, no tracking # yet

I ordered my extras from impulse creations
also waiting on a tracking number

The place I ordered from still hasn’t provided a tracking number.

I still haven’t gotten s tracking number from Midtown. It’s rather strange.

Not unusual. Sometimes they take up to a week. Likely the packing a lot of them.

Midtown shipping has really slowed down lately. Works in your favor though. Price continues to climb.

I have noticed that too about midtown. There was a time that I would order, they would prepare it on Monday and I would have it by Thursday. Friday if things were slow. Now I get it by the next Wednesday.
