It’s best to avoid all Mark Spears blind bags from now on.

interesting that only 75k blind bags were made
was that because they knew these bags were going to suck or they were stuck with common covers from previous bags

ā€œLimitedā€ is just putting a spin on spears blind bag orders falling off sharply since the last debacle. I’m sure he would have been happy to sell a few hundred thousand copies again.

Would you buy a car that came in a blind bag? Or a new phone? Or perhaps a couch for the living room? What about a meal at a restaurant? Why do we allow this in the comic industry when the merchandise depends on the cover art and or the story inside? Don’t buy blind bags at all I say… you’ll only be disappointed more likely than happy with the overall purchase experience, especially if you’re banking on grabbing multiples of the advertised ā€œprizesā€ inside…

Also most inspect comics on condition as well… which plays a huge part of the purchase. Blind bags prohibit such inspection on condition. Just avoid, make this new trend vanish as fast as a fart in the car with all the windows rolled down I say by stop buying them altogether.

Same reason people buy lottery tickets. It’s a chance.

The ratio is as stated. I think people were spoiled by the first one.

I get that but there’s key differences in what you know what your paying to chance on… how often do these blind bags result in a good mix of comic covers, etc? You buy lotto tickets at a chance to win money, not hope you get a winning ticket that you display as a piece of art or whatever, a lotto ticket in mint condition? Trading cards are different as well, usually buying to piece together a set of cards that you can collect or use to pay games with.

I just find it odd, a hobby where it’s about the story and art and now people taking chances hoping to get the couple of covers and maybe a rare cover where it’s also based on condition as well… Blind bags for comics are just a good way to sell more of the same to willing buyers. It’s one of the only hobbies where people are willing to buy literally the same product more than once based on the cover art. When you buy your new iPhone, do you buy every color they make? Nope… we shouldn’t fall for such tactics as well with comics me thinks. Call me old school, I would love for it to go back to the times where they put the ā€œbestā€ cover on the issue and just leave it at that and focus on the story as well. Now it’s just about the chase for rarity and let’s be honest, sometimes the best cover is the regular cover. I’m surprised by the ratio covers at times, there’s plenty that are not even better than the ones you can get at cover prices.

Just seems like they never go the way people envision and they just come here to complain when they knew what they were up against buying ā€œblindlyā€ā€¦

It preys on the same addictive quality of gambling which works most on low IQ individuals. I am a retailer and HATE blind bags.

The odds of getting a ā€œwin are stated on the bagā€ you have a 1:50 chance of at least getting a variant

The overall odds should be 4% chance of getting a cover other than cover H. The mix in with the cards changes the dynamic as you could pull a rare card.

Needless to say I think the way it was stated is confusing though.

The story and art are still inside the book no matter which cover you pull. You are just spending an extra dollar over regular cover price for a chance at a rare cover or insert card.

Again, poorly handled.

As my wife will attest to, it doesn’t dissipate as fast as you think it would when you’re doing it….

It’s a product of the times. Everything is expensive, and it seems like unless you fall @$$ backwards into money or have a idea or live for your work or really good at scamming people out of money, taking silly risks is the only way to get ahead.

Usually people that get the farthest ahead are some combination of all the above.

Nobody is getting rich though buying comic blind bags… I’ll happily invest my money in other things to ā€œget aheadā€ā€¦

True but we all know that’s not realistic when we got people buying X amount and getting most if not all the same within each blind bag…

They still have a 4% chance of getting a rare one. Buying multiple doesn’t increase the odds that much. The first one had so many covers the odds were in your favor. Didn’t mean you would get one of the ones you wanted. Just a better dispersement.

Could be something to spec on…we’ve seen other titans books with Nightwing covers get nice returns.

If only ā€œIcemanā€ wasn’t blocking that @$$……

Just got the only copy at my shop. Probably underordered, could be a good longer term hold.

750k copies of ABM 25 printed, and my shop didn’t have a
Single copy of cover A on the shelf when they opened today.
